including fraud. Tho •xlonl lo wthich OUT procedures are capable of detocling ir￿guIantlfjs. including fraud is
detailed below..
We obtained an understandlng of the legal 8nd regulatory frameworks wlhin whlch the Charity opergt•s,
focusing on th058 laws and regulations Ihal have 8 dlrect effecl on Ihe delerniinalion of material amounts and
disclosures in the financial statements. The laws and regulallons we cmsidered this conloxl were the
Charities Act 2011. We assessed the required compli8nc8 Wlth these laws end regulations as part of our audit
procedures on the re18ted financlal statement It8ms.
In addition, we considere¢J provtslons of other laws and regulations Ihat do not hav8 a dirgcl 8ff8¢1 on the
financl81 statements bul compliance wlh which rnighl be fundamental lo the ChaTltls ability to oper818 or lo
avold a m8lerlal penalty. We also considered the opportunbties and Incentives that may exist wlthin the Charlly
for fraud. The laws and regulations we considered In this context for the UK operations were General Dats
Protection Regulation IGDPRI, Anli-fraud, brib8ry and corruption legis18bon, 8nvironm8nlal proleci¢on leglslab'on.
Health 8nd gafely legl8181ion, Taxallon l¢gi$1otion and Em￿oyMent legi8lallon.
Auditing slan¢Jard8 limil the required audll procedures to idenbfy non-compllanc8 wllh those laws and regulations
to enquiry of tho Trustees and othèr management ond inspoction of regulatory and *al correspondence, If any.
We identified the gr88tèsl risk of m8lerial Impact on the financial statements from irragularities, including fraud,
lo be in the following ar&as.' Ilmlng of recognition of Income., the override of controls by managemanl, Includlng
posting of unusual journals.. Inappropri8ts treatment of non-roullne transactions and Breas of estimallon
L*ncgrt8inty.
Our audlt procedures to respond lo those risks included enqulrles of man8gemenl about their own identificati
and assessment of the risk5 01 irregularities. r8Vi8w and discussion of nrJ)-roulin& transactions, sample testing
on th• posting of joumals and income transactions and review of ac¢ounUng esUmal8s for biases.
8ecauBè of the Inh8rent limllatlon8 of an audit. there is a rtsk that we wll not detect all irregularllies, Including
those leading to a maleri81 mlsstatemenl in the financial statements or non-compliance with regulation. Thls risk
increases the more that compliance wth a law or regulation is removed from the events and IransactiOn5
rellecled In ihe finanaal statements. as w8 will b• lèss likely to become aware of instances of non-compliance.
The risk is 8180 greater regarding irregularits'es occurring due lo fraud rather than error, as fraud involve$
intentional concealment. forgery, collusion, omission or misrepr8santation.
