For the public benefit to promote the education (including social<br>and physical training) of young people, in particular school pupils<br>in Northumberland and surrounding counties<br>2. To help young people in Northumberland and surrounding<br>counties, especially but not exclusively through leisure time<br>activities, so as to develop their capabilities that they may grow to<br>full maturity as individuals and members of society.<br>3. To promote for the benefit of the inhabitants of Northumberland<br>and surrounding counties and the surrounding area the provision<br>of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of<br>individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their<br>youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social<br>and economic circumstances or for the public at large in the<br>interests of social welfare and with the object of improving  the<br>Condition of life of the said inhabitants|

## **Achievements and Performance**

||Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|<br>Financial stability once again maintained throughout<br>2022-2023, despite several issues emerging post Covid.<br><br>Milkhope had been closed to the public on several<br>occasions due to Covid restrictions throughout 2021 and<br>the after effects of “Storm Arwen” from November 2021 –<br>October 2022.<br><br>After discussions with Forestry England, lettings resumed<br>at the start of 2023. FE very supportive.<br><br>Continued improvement in facilities both indoor and<br>outdoor, including ceilings in social area (work<br>continues), fencing work at front of house, outdoor solar<br>PIR lights, new locks fitted, wood store roof re-felted and<br>new UV water treatment system installed. Lots of catch-<br>up jobs also undertaken e.g. wood cutting, grass cutting<br>and painting.<br><br>Lots of lettings interest and bookings from a variety of<br>local groups already for the 2023-2024 financial year.<br><br>The Friends of Milkhope would like to thank everyone<br>who has contributed to the success of the charity<br>throughout a challenging year due to circumstances<br>beyond our control.|
