Thetrusteeswhoarealsodirectorsof thecharityforthepurposesof theCompaniesAct2006,present their

adoptedtheprovisionsofAccountingandReportingbyCharities:StatementofRecommended Practice
applicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsinaccordancewiththeFinancialReporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The InternationalAssociationfor ForensicPsychotherapy(IAFP)promotesthe mentalhealthof offenders and
victimsthroughtheuseofpsychotherapeuticunderstanding,riskassessment,andtreatmenttechniques and
advances understanding about forensic psychotherapeutic practice.
Significant activities
-developingeducationalprogramsaroundtheworldformentalhealthpractitioners,thepublic, and
offenders to enhance their understanding of the principles and practice of forensic psychotherapy
- publishing and disseminating new scholarly articles about forensic psychotherapy
-maintainingadatabaseofknowledgeaboutforensicpsychotherapy,includingawebsiteavailableto the
public
- Using knowledge about the principles and practice of forensic psychotherapy to inform policy decisions
- encouraging collaborations between practitioners and agencies working with offenders internationally

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Charitable activities
ThishasbeenanotherveryproductiveyearinworkingtowardstheIAFP'saimtopromotethehealth of
offendersandvictimsthroughtheuseofpsychotherapeuticunderstanding,riskassessmentand treatment
techniques and to advance understanding about forensic psychotherapeutic practice.
MoustafaSaoudwas electedas Treasurer,Leo Cabrerwas electedas AssistantTreasurer.John Kearney, Anna
Motz, Natalia Frolova, Franco Scarpa and Massimo De Mari were elected to the Executive Board.
Annual Conference
The2023AnnualConferencetookplaceinTurin,Italyonthethemeof"FromPaintoViolence: Prevention
and Intervention."Nine keynotespeakersfromthe UK, Italyand France,eighteenparallelpresentations plus
twolargegroupdiscussionsprovidedanextensiveopportunitytohearfromexpertsinthefieldand share
experiences with other delegates.
The2024AnnualConference(our32ndannualevent)washeldin Montpellier,Franceonthethemeof "The
PerverseOrganisation:TurningaBlindEyetoSexualViolence."TenkeynotespeakersfromtheUK, France,
Israel,AustraliaandtheUSA,sixteenparallelpresentationsplustwolargegroupdiscussionswereheld. On
the Thursday we held a preconference day on the subject of the "Flair of French Forensics."
Gill McGauley Award
Atthe2023AnnualConference,wehadjointwinnersoftheGillMcGauleyAward,inrecognitionof their
outstandingscholarlycontributiontothefieldofforensicpsychotherapyatanIAFPconference- Sarah
Brand's session on "Music is the Enemy"; and Nelle Van Damme's session on "Radio Begijnenstraat"
Our2024awardwinnerwasNaomiRulewithapresentationentitled"ATaleToldByAnIdiot:Exploring the
ethicaldilemmaofprovidingtrauma-informedandrecoveryfocusedtreatmentpathwayssystem that
necessitates physical oppression and emotional sublimation."
Evening Seminars
Theselow-cost,bi-monthlyeveningseminarscontinuetobeameansofdisseminatingknowledge and
fosteringlinks with the widercommunity.The majorityof thesesessionsare recordedand availableto those
who cannot attend the live presentations. During the past year we have held the following seminars:

National Associations Committee
Thisgrouphascontinuedtomeetovertheyearandhaveformalisedawayofcreatingaffiliates. The
AustralianandUKassociationswereourfirstaffiliates.TheFrenchassociationheldtheirfirst inaugural
seminar in Paris in the Autumn of 2023.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
Reserves policy
TheCharityhasareservespolicytohold3monthscostsinreservetoenabletheCharitytocovercosts and
obligations in the event of business closure.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Governing document
Thecharityiscontrolledbyitsgoverningdocument,adeedoftrust,andconstitutesalimited company,
limited by guarantee, as defined by the Companies Act 2006.

The IAFP is governed by a constitution and by-laws (revised April 2012).
The IAFP is a private company limited by guarantee.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
TheIAFPappointedeachofitsofficers(President,HonoraryLifePresident,Secretary,Treasurer,and Vice
President)tobetrusteesoftheCharity.Nomineesforthesepositions(exceptHonoraryLifePresident) are
solicitedfromtheIAFPmembershiponanannualbasis,andelectionsarethenheldattheAnnual General
Meeting. Officers must be members of the IAFP and are elected to three-year terms.
AsmostofourofficerswillbecompletingtheirtenureandstandingdownfromtheBoardwithinthe next
year,thenewtrusteesare-DrAnneAiyegbusi,DrMoustafaSaoudandDrJackBlake.DrEstelaWelldon is
standing down as a trustee due to ill-health.
For banking purposes, it has been agreed that Treasurers need to be UK based.

Independent examiner's statement
I havecompletedmyexamination.I confirmthatnomattershavecometomyattentioninconnection with
the examination giving me cause to believe:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by Section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of Section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities (applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)).

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Thefinancialstatementsofthecharitablecompany,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS 102,
havebeenpreparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReporting by
Charities:StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccounts in
accordancewiththeFinancialReportingStandardapplicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland (FRS
102)(effective1January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReporting Standard
applicableintheUKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCompaniesAct2006.Thefinancial statements
have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
Income
All incomeis recognisedin the Statementof FinancialActivitiesonce the charityhas entitlementto the
funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
Expenditure
Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
committingthecharitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswill be
requiredinsettlementandtheamountoftheobligationcanbemeasuredreliably.Expenditure is
accountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateall cost
relatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticularheadingsthey have
been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Taxation
The charity is exempt from corporation tax on its charitable activities.
Fund accounting
Unrestrictedfundscanbeusedinaccordancewiththecharitableobjectivesatthediscretionof the
trustees.
Restrictedfundscanonlybeusedforparticularrestrictedpurposeswithintheobjectsofthe charity.
