Keelby Sports Association Chair Report 2024/2025

My update on matters covers the period from August 2024, which was when the last Annual General Meeting took place.

Firstly I would like to thank committee members from the clubs for their hard work and contributions to delivering sports in Keelby maintaining our great facilities and supporting myself.

I would like to thank Trev for his role as non official Treasurer, ensuring the accounts are accurate, dues are collected and bills paid, including wages for our cleaner who does an excellent job.

Thanks also go to Mark as our Parish Council representative for his valuable contribution and always being the “voice of reason”, to Owen who continues to be a great support and source of advice regarding grants etc and Ed who has given his time over the years to be the inspiration behind the skate park and its development.

Thanks to Richard for being the driving force behind the installation of the solar panels which hopefully will begin to have a significant impact on reducing our energy bills along with doing our bit towards “greener energy”.

As the pavilion becomes older naturally wear and tear occurs and the need to replace and repair items becomes essential. A list of such items and essential work required was drawn up at our last business meeting and submitted to the Parish Council for consideration. Funds are tight for all the clubs and providing sports and facilities is a very expensive business. I know the Tennis Club are struggling financially and are trying hard to source any help available to address this situation.

The reward as always for our labours is seeing participants of all ages playing and enjoying their respective sports at our fantastic facilities, which remain the envy of other villages. Seeing so many juniors taking part in cricket and football training / matches is fantastic and we should be thankful that so many give up their time to make this happen. It is particularly heart warming to see the resurrection of girl’s football at Keelby after an absence of 11 years.

Lastly, if I have missed anyone out I apologise. It is my intention not to stand as chair for the coming year, but I would like to continue as a representative for the Tennis Club on the Committee. Sally
