## **DORKING BRIDGE CLUB** 

## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025** 

## **INCORPORATION** 

**Dorking Bridge Club was registered with the Charity Commission as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation on 7 January 2016 at its principal address of North Holmwood Village Hall, Spook Hill, North Holmwood, Surrey RH5 4JP.** 

## **TRUSTEES**

## **COMMITTEE: Sheena Bassett and Richard Arnatt** 

## **OBJECTIVES** 

**Our objectives are:** 

**(1) The advancement of amateur sport by promoting the game of bridge for the benefit of the residents of Dorking and the surrounding area; and** 

**(2) The provision of facilities for the learning, teaching & playing of bridge for the benefit of these residents and to improve the quality of their life.** 

## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE DURING THE YEAR** 

**A total of 44 face-to-face bridge sessions were held during the year with 2-4 tables. Although it hasn’t had a significant impact on numbers the move to the more central location at Dorking Christian Centre in March 2024 went well.** 

**Following a drop-off in numbers the Thursday on–line sessions using the Bridge Base On-Line platform introduced in July 2020 to allow play during the Covid epidemic ended in May 2024.** 

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** 

**On-line bridge provided a useful income stream as we opted to run the sessions ourselves, using volunteer members, rather than having it done for us.  This meant we were able to provide face-to-face sessions with no charge with a manageable reduction in the Club’s overall financial balance. The end of income from online sessions requires a detailed review of charges for membership/playing.** 

## **LOOKING AHEAD** 

**The small number of players playing face-to-face remains a significant concern for the viability of the club. We will continue to explore options for increasing numbers playing face-to-face.**
