About Stratford upon Avon and Distrkt Samaritans
Our branch was founded 35 years ago, opening to callers on 15th October 1990. Whilst we remain the
newest of the 17 Samaritsns brdnches that make up the West Midlands re8ion, we are also now the
second largest in terms of volunteer numbers, behind onty Blmiingham branch.
Most of our Listening Volunteer time is spent worklng alongside the other 2C#)+ Samaritans branches
nationwlde. providing 24-hour emotional SUPF>Ort by telephone, emall and online that. Samaritsns do
not charge for their servlces and offer a Freephone number: 116 123.

of £170.823.
Balance Sheet
Total funds at the period end was £461.463 reflecting the net surplus as outlined above. Of this
£313,847 was in a restrirted fund of assets, primarily donated to us ffom Stratford upon Avon Town
trust for the renovation and maintenance of Tyler House. Thi5 leaves an unrestricted balance of
£147,616 of which £113,655 was in cash available to the trustees to run the branch. Whilst the Brnnth
appears to be wealthy based on our bank account and assets, it should be noted that the bulk of tho

Resèrves pollcy
Because of the diverse nature of our fundin& the tharitws reserye policy is to operate with 6 - 12
months of runnlng costs.
plans for future perlods
We aim to recruit, train and support volunteers so that we Increase our Listening and Support Volunteer
numbers to a target over the next 18 - 24 months of around 200. This ￿qUireS us to increase our
current two intske each year each of around 20 volunteers; we will achieve this by tsr8etin8 our wlckr
region in South Warwickshire beyond the town and district of Stratfor&upon-Avon.
We know that collectlvely, Samarltan5 branches fall short of meetlng caller demand during nl8ht-time
hours. Strarford branch wlll continue to deliver more than our expected contrlbutlon to those hours of
need, and will increase our contrlbuDon at that time further where we can.
We also aim to ensure that Tyler House continues to be a facility and locatt.on where Samaritans c
flourlsh, and that we are able to share those facilities with others to contribute to the good of Stratford-
upon-Avon and to OLbr revenue..
