Background
Our operation in the 6[th] year as a CIO was significantly curtailed due to the COVID shutdown. The arts centre we use did not reopen until the weekend of 26[th] June when we presented a mini-festival of 4 linked titles to relaunch our programme and test audience confidence.
In the 6 months to the year-end our audience numbers did not recover to pre-pandemic levels. Average attendances fell from around 80 to under 65 – a drop of about 20%. This generally reflected the reported drop in audience numbers at the national level.
We were also saddened that one of our founder members and mainstay of the organisation died suddenly in November.
Looking ahead
We are optimistic that audience numbers will return to pre-closure levels. Our contingency funds will sustain us in the medium term.
