Our work is in memory of 7-year-old Evelyn Mary Smith, who died suddenly and unexpertedly In 2013. We carry out a diverse ran8e of projects and provide individual acts of .kindness for people in need. We promote CPR life Saving skills training in the community provided by Warwickshire Hearts. Objectives and Activities We have two objectives.. 111 To preserve and protect good health by the provislon of emergency Ilfe support trainln8 through schools and councils in Warwickshire. 121 Such charitable purposes for the publlc benefit as are exclusively charitable accordin8 to the laws of England and Wales as the trustees may from time to time determine. The public benefits from purpose111 are evidenced by research from the Resuscitation Council that show5 that training in the community improves survival rates from community cardiac arrests. Training sessions for CPRI AED have been delivered by the charity Warwickshire Hearts, with a Small number organised by Evelyn's Gift. Evelyn's Glft organised Warrf4ickshire Hearts training sessions for the public at a restaurant and. as part of Restart a Heart Day. a school. Since the project began, more than ten thousand people have been trained in South Warwickshire. This work did not require any financial support from Evelyn's Gift. The majority of our work during this period has been in the area of arts of kindness for people in need for a variety of reasons. including bereavement, serious health problems, poverty, addiction, abuse or homelessness This work applies to objective12), and the majority of this work has been across Warwickshire, with a small number of cases in other counties in the Midlands of England. We have received requests for support from sources that include Warwickshire County Council Children's Services and Care Leaver teams. charities supporting families with children with serious illness, community nursing teams, hospices. community centres and schools. We fund a bereavement group for parents when their child has died, run by Wanvickshire Therapy, a5 a mutual support network. We provide bereavement support resource packs for familie5 and schools, aimed at primary-aged children.

For individuals we are providing a direct benefit through objective {21 by enhancing quality of life and physical and mental wellbeing. Many of the items we provide are essential for a reasonable standard of livin8. We receive regular feedback from health. social care and education professionals about the direct impact on children. young people and adults. The Parents. Bereavement Group and bereavement support packs have facilitated support for bereaved people and feedback from parents, schools and other organisations shows that these projects improving outcomes for bereaved people. Objective121 provides the public benefrt of enhancing the community by facilitating community support for local people that are in crisis or vulnerable. Decision Making Pollcy Regular projects. such as bereavement support packs and toiletries for vulnerable people, do not require trustee approval. Projerts using restricted funds are reported to the trustees to ensure that the fund is bein8 used as intended. New projects and requests for individual support over £ICM) are shared electronically with the trustees if they are considered to meet our objertives. The trustees also have access to the accounts and financial statU5. A minimum of three trustees, In addition to the proposer, are requlred before the request can be approved and actioned. All decisions are made by the trustees with consideration of the public benefit and the charitV5 objectives. Structure, Governance and Management Evelyn's Gift is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation ICIOI governed by constitution. There are twelve trustees, which is the maximum number. Four of the trustees are related to one another because the charity is in memory of Evelyn Smith. The remaining trustees have a variety of skills in other areas and were all appointed by proposal and approval by existin8 trustees. EveLy VL'S <ift | fittte acts of fiiihlness AGM report 23 0rt2023- 22 Oct2024 Introduction This year saw a continuation of growth in demand, which is predomlnantly due to an increase in awareness of our work amongst professionals within social services and health care. This has led to a level of expendSture of more than £10. [￿ above ovr income for the period. However. there was 3 518nificant fund of £34,780 carried over from the previous year, so the trustees agreed that some of this reserve would be spent during the year, before further grant applications are submitted. The charity does not need to hold reserves of more than £3.000 as per policy. because the charity does not have pald staff or large flxed costs. The level of activity was hi8h in the area of our acts of kindness. These referrals come from social workers, other charities and non-profrt organisations. health professionals, education professionals and hospices. Each case is considered by the trustees, and we support these by purchasln8 goods or servlces that are provided through the professional that has made the referral. I CPR/AED Training The CPR and Defibrillator training programme was originally started by a collaboratlon with Waterside Medical Centre, and later WaTh¥ick Distritt Community First Responders. This led to the formation of Warwickshire Hearts, which Incorporated free trainlng as part of their work. The ambulance First Responders continue to deliver the trainin& Including sharin8 our experience as a mean5 of encoura8in8 people to take up the offer. Working together, over 10 (th) people have received tralnin8 in South Warwickshire, and we are very 8rateful to the Warwickshire Hearts team for this vital, Ilfe-saving work. During this flnancial period t￿re was no cost to Evelyn's Gift for the trainin8. We or8anised training at a restaurant for the public, and for parents at a primary school. The sessions were very well attended and received excellent feedback. We are very 8rateful to Warwlckshire Hearts for deliverln8 these sessSons as part of our shared objective to train local people to improve survival rates from community cardiac arrest.

We purchased 21x1 boxes of biscuits to support Norma's hampers for care leavers living independently. Warwickshire Search and Rescue volunteers collected food with us from Procure4 Ltd. Puddleducks and Posh nursery and donations at Morrisons, and delivered to Norma in November. ready for distribution in December by social services to young people. Norma Wilson's Christmas hampers for young people leavin￿ have left care Bereavement Support resources Annual Christmas projert Ongoing We sent out an estimated 55 bereavement support packs across Warwickshire, plus additional copies of books for schools in North Wanvick5hire. We Spent all of the restricted fund5 for this ro ert from the Co-op Fund We fund this group run by Warwickshire Therapy, with additional private sessions for people that need 1-2-1 support. partlcularly those recently bereaved. This vital work was partly funded from the Tesco Blue Token Scheme and St James. Place Foundation. Our policy is to fund silver fingerprint memorial jewellery for parents when a child dies, or for a child when they have experienced a significant loss. such as a parent or sibling. There has been a substantial increase in requests because of our connection to a children's hospice that covers Warwickshire, Worcestershire and other area5 of the Midland5. We also funded some funeral and memorial costs for bereaved families. Including interment at a natural burial ground and memorial trees. Warwickshire Children's Service5 Ongoing We are members of the Child Friendly Warwickshire initiative. We supplied Care Leaver Home Boxes for young people setting up home independently. New home packs also went to young people going to universlty. with the addition of food items and student recipe books. We used funding from Think Active to create mental health support boxes, including information and items to help with stress. We funded pantomime tickets for children that were in separate care settin8s from their siblings as part of our work to facilitate siblin8s' events. We provided toys and chocolate for WCC Children's Services events. We provided packs of stationery and calculators for both primary and secondary school students visiting the Packmores Community Centre fortheir second-hand uniform events and foodbank. This was part funded bythe Rotary Club of Warwick. We provided art materials for Safeline's art therapy rooms, toiletries for survivors of abuse and items to 5UPPOrt people in court or beln Interviewed. such as stress balls. Using allocated funds from a foundation grant, we funded Duke of Edinburgh project for youn8 people at Fairfax Multi Academy Trust. We funded new seating for the Barden areas at Myton, Coventry, carried out some painting and planting work at Myton, Warwick and provided toiletries for people at the hospices. 131 December is Evelyn's Birthday, and we ask people to carry out acts of kindness. Alex Pear50n from Morrisons walked eighteen mlles to raise £1.302, including fund matching by the Morrisons Foundation. Alex arranged for us to see the Warwick Castle light walk. and for the castle to be lit in purple for Evelyn's Gift. We lit candles for children and young people that have dled. which we do each year in St. Mary's Church in Warwick. This was kindly recorded as a film by Highway Productions for parents that could not attend. 3 Fundraising and support A total of £34.780 was carried over from the previous year. of which £1,495 was restricted funding. 3.1 Income Donation sources are summarised in figurel. Our income came for a variety of sources, with the largest area belng other charities and foundatlons. We were voted as charity of the year 2023 for the St James. Place Foundation which gave us a grant of £10,0￿. Other grants awarded to us were from the Morrison's Foundation fundmatchin8 for Alex's fundraisin& the EW trust for Children'5 Services and Birmingham schools, Leamington and Warwick Football League. Kenllworth Runners from the Two Castles wn, a restricted fund from Warwick Rotary Club, Wellesbourne Lions. Santa collectlon and three restrlcted grants from Think Active for WCC Children's Services. The total income in this category was £16,627, including £1,927 of restrirted funding. £5,308 came from onllne platforms such as Paypal Givin& Go Fund Me, Facebook, Just Giving and Wonderful.or& including donations to Morrisons Community Champion Alex Pearson's sponsored walk for Evelyn's birthday and Facebook birthday fundraising campaigns. We received donations from businesses that supported us, including a book sale and tombola at Tesco, a restricted fund from Tesco Blue Token Scheme, a restrlcted f und from Co op funeral care for bereavement packs and a pub quiz at the Hope and Anchor in Leamington. We recelved £2,892 from other events organised by other individuals and organisations.. an Open Gardens in Barford, a golf day, and a summerfair at Berkeley Care homes. Individual donations of £1.730 were made, including a restricted donation to support a family at Acorns Hospice, and £477 was claimed in Gift Aid includin8 Gift Aid from donations in our previous financial perlod.
