Achievements and Performance

President Report

I would like to thank everyone for attending today. Thank you to the committee members who have worked very hard over the year in keeping this Centre open and running every week.

Thank you to the members who continue to renew their memberships yearly and to the volunteers who help out in the Acton Centre, your assistance has not gone unnoticed.

We had a few Service cancellations this year due to health, transport and unforeseen circumstances, in which we were unable to get cover in short notice and we apologise for any inconvenience.

The garden has been maintained for the year and the building repairs have been completed, this included the damage in the ceiling and coving, damp and pointing on the outside walls, plumbing repairs upstairs in the Flat. This has enabled us to open the kitchen for refreshments after services, workshops and open platform. We had the walls painted and decorated the coving in the centre this has brighten up the room giving it a fresh look and we have changed the previous carpet to the blue carpet, the members have expressed how much better the centre looks and feels.

We are always looking for volunteers to assist us with tea/coffee, handing out books at the service, general washing up, cleaning and assisting with the gardening, if you would like to express your interest, please speak to either myself or one of the committee members.

We have had good attendance with the workshops and open platform and will continue moving into 2025.

We finish 2024 with our Christmas Service, with a great turnout and praises to the committee for all that we do at the Acton Centre. We provided sandwiches, snacks, mince pies and drinks after the service for the members and community who stayed for a chat, it was a wonderful and lovely way to end the last service of the year.

The above has been amended from our last meeting with a current asset of £315,460.14, which has been broken down through various accounts and cash in hand.

We had the Garden maintain in September and ordered a skip for the building work waste totalling to £540.00.

The damp in the ceiling is now resolved, dried and we had contractors come in to repair, plaster and replace the damage coving, pointing and gaps from where the ivy plant was creeping up the wall which caused damage to the outside walls and painted the walls in the church hall and foyer areas costing £9000.00.

We laid new blue carpet in the church hall, fire exit near the toilets and foyer area costing £2242.00.

We have got quotes for the kitchen walls, floor, ceiling and cupboards but was awaiting the January sales to get the same items cheaper.

We are in the process of drafting new contract for Mr Bunce in the Garage.

We need to get other quotes for the windows but not a priority at this time as the windows remains closed during the winter period.

We needed to schedule an appointment for our Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) which has now been completed this year 2025. The Fire Safety and Insurance for the building is up to date.

Grills in the car park need refitting as they have become loose and damaged, we are currently obtaining quotes as this can/may be a safety issue.

If anyone has any questions, I will endeavour to answer them.
