Th¢ original Hospital at Isle1￿￿ wa8 founded by Fram¢es Peyton in 1582. ID 1982 a special
service of thanksgiving was beld to c¢lebrate th¢ fourth centen￿Y of the foundation and the re-
opening of the AhJ)shous¢s after a major rebuild and renov￿10￿ scheme had been compler£d.

and two bungalows that were built in 1995.
In order to be considered for appointm¢nt as a beneficiary (Tesident) of the Charity. applicants
must be poor persons of 8ood ciMra¢ter and illhabitsuts of th¢ villag¢ of Isl¢ham or nel￿bouT]ng
villa8es.
The Charty is governed by a Tr￿stre body made up of nin¢ persons. One tru8tee is an ex.officio
tmstee (the person being in Situ as vicar of the church of St Andrew. Isleham). five co-opted
trustee4 and three tsvstees nominated by th¢ Islebam Parish Council.

Jn this y¢arth¢r hav¢ be¢n no va¢ancies at the Almshouses. Tbe Charity r¢lains 2 other pa￿leS of
agricultural land at East Fen aDd off Fordham Road. which are both let. The laDd at Station Ro
r¢mained vacant atthe year end. Subsequentty. the saIe of part of the site was completed to
H￿¢bury and the remaining area is r¢tained by the Charity. The net saI¢ procetAts of
£1,021,220 will prAmarAly ￿ US￿ to purchase four thvelltngs at Station Road.
The Charity has an improved finan¢i&l position with the sale of the KJ)aves a¢re site aDd has
r¢scrY¢s that are appropriateto n￿l￿taIn and improve our properties.
There continues to b¢ th¢ need for additional good quality, well managed affordable r¢ntsd
housiiig in Isleham. The local housing needs remain real and the Charity is committed to help
local people to be able to access affordable housing in the village.
