The finandal statements have been prepored in xc(xdanc8 Y￿th the accounting policies set out in note 1 to the

amended for acccyjnting periods commancing from 1 January 20161
Objectlves and actlvltl•s
The objects are to advance the Orthodox Christian Faith in accordance with Ihe prin￿pIeS of churGh govemmenl
accepted by the Deanery n Great Britsln and Ireland.
The Orthodox Christian Fath 18 defined by the goveming document to mean the faith of the One Holy Orthodox-
Catholic and Apostdic Church, rooted in the Holy Tradition, and taught by the Holy scriptu￿8, the Sev8n
Ecumenical Councils and the L￿al and Promncial Counclls. and by the Holy Fathers, and as preserved and
taught by the Churches of the four andenl patrlarchales of Conslantinopte, Jerusalem. Anb'oth and ￿eXand￿8,
arKI by the ch￿￿h9$ rw in communion wth any or all ofthem.
The "principles of churth govemment. are set out in the Slalutes of the Deanery. whlch themselves accord with
the Stslutes of the Arthjiocese of Orthodox Parishes of Russian Tradition in VV8slgrn Europe. These principles
enshrine the decisions of the CoLrriI of Moscow of 1917-18. The Statutes provide a formal structure for lh8
esbytery. and for the Deanery A88embly and the Deanery ExecJAve (the Tru8leeBI.
The sL*u$ of Exarchale was ￿thdrawn by a decision of the Hdy Synod of the Ecumenlcal Patriar¢hae on 27th
November 2018, with proposals for a new organisation. In November 2019 the Dèanery was received into the
Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain. The Deanery Trust continued lo be registered wth the Charfty
Commission under the name of Exarchate UK Deanery during 2023 pending fomial agreement by the trustees to
a revised name. It is now known infomially as Thyateira Deanery.
The De8nery 1$ committed lo developing a locally-based Orthodox Church which 18 open to dl who wish lo come
and leam more about the Orthodox Christian Faith, without regard to nationality, language, racial or cultural
backgrwnd. The Deanery is strongly committed to the view. expressed by the late Metropolitan Anthcny of
Sourozh, of blessed memory 11914-2003). that the Orthodox Falth must be rooted in the Gulture of the pl
vthere its p8op18 IN8. Accordingty, Ihg communities of the Deanery now use English as the principal language of
Ilbjrgleal prayer.
Members of the Deanery work, wherever possible, other Chr18tlan group8 and seek lo develop good
relationships with representatives of other faiths and, indeed, wlh those who (10 not profess any religious faith. In
a spirit of t0￿ran￿ and peac* whi15t holding ffimi to the fulln&s$ of the Orthodox Faith they have received as thelr
Inheritance.
The Deanery is likety to play a more signfficant r￿e in wider society than the numbor of its Parishes arKI
EL￿anstIC Communities would suggest, prec4sely because its memter8 are fully In¢orpor*ted wlh ihe local
mmunity, and do not see themselvfjs as representing a foreign faith.
Th@ trust98s have paid du8 regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in derydiro what ac*lvilles the
charty should undertake and In particular the specific guidance for charrties for the advancem8nt of religion.
