The Trustees present their report along with the financial stateme￿ts of the Charity for the year ¢nded
31st July 2024.

These a¢¢ounts are prepared for the full year including the combined result5 of the Charity ond its wholly
owned subsidiary, CLC Orchestral Promotions Limited.
Constitution Ind Object5
The Cbarity's Gov¢ming Document is its Const&tution whid) was last amended on 30 Novemb¢r 2015.
The objects of the CIO are to promote, improve, dev¢lop and maintain public education in the application
of th¢ art and Science of choral music ITh all its aspects by the presentation of publi¢ choral concerts and
by such oth¢r ways as the trustees shall determinc from time to time primarily in and around the City of
Lonth>n.
In pursuing such objects, th¢ City of London Choir aims to prnvide exciting musical experiences for
members and audiences. In particular, it seeks to:

and elljoy sitigittg together-
Provide incr¢as¢d oppottunities for audiences to hear both establtshed and l¢ss well.kTh)wn

Development, Aellvltles and Aehievemen¢$
The City of London Choir is busy and v¢rsatile, regUl￿[Y performing in ensetnbles from 20 $iDgers to our
fv11 strength of around 120. We have provided music for a wide range of social and corporate ¢v¢nts and
we are particularly pl¢ased to support events organised by our sponsors.
During the year the Choir promot¢d or co-promoted three conc¢rt programmes. In Dec¢mb¢r we had our
an￿Ual Christmas Carol concert, but for th¢ first time at The Cadogan Hall and not At St. John's Smith
Square. with our own 'h&nd-picked' orchestra, Benjamin Pope as ¢ondu¢tor and Ca]nilla Kerslake as
soloist. The high point of th¢ seastsn was a perforn)ance of Bach's Sf. John Passion at St. Giles
Cripplegate in March with the Hanover Band, Mark Wslliams conductor, and soloists Samuel Boden,
Themba Mvula, Augusta Hebb¢rt, Anna Harvey, Wil]iam Frost and William Whitehead.

The Beason ended in A ¢o-promotion with Kestrel Music as part of Summer Music in City Churches. The
Choir perforni¢d at St. Giles Cripplegate. with soloists Rachel Nicholl8, Max Robbins, And Roderick
Williams in a prograrnme entitled"Then Sing We All" with music by Horovitz, Eric Whitacre, Tippett,
Dankworth and lain Farrington (who also accompanied the choir on the piano) conducted jointly by our
Mvsi¢al Direetor Emeritus, Hilary Davan W¢tton, al￿ our incoming Musical Director, Daniel Hyde.
Th¢ choir was engaged by external protnot¢r5 on stveral occasions.. the IiPO at Cadogan Hall i
November for Brahms. Gemort Requiem, with soloists Sophie Bevan and Gar¢tb Brynmor John
¢onducted by Daniel Hyd4 Raymond Gubbay Ltd for two perfornianrK$ of Holst's The Planets. Suit¢
(female voices only) at the Royal Albert Hall and th¢ Royal F¢stival Hall. and a Christmas concert for th¢
Carers. Tn￿t at St Paul'$ Knightsbrid8e.
Daniel Hyde, Director of Music for the Choir of King's College, Cambridge. took up his p¢)siti¢)n as our
Musical Director and Principal Conducttsr from l August 2024.
The Choir is a member of Making Music, previously the National Federation of Mwic Societies.
Reserves Pollcy
The Choir needs to hold r¢s¢rves for a number of r¢asons.' to provide a Cushion ag8jllSt1055e5 ill the
course of a year, to ertable it tts commit to expendÈture up to a year ahead and to give it flexibility in its
long temi planning. The Choir's policy is to hold a level of r¢serve8 that is broadly equivalent to between
one and one and 8 ha]f year'l Worth of plamied future ¢xpet￿llure.
