LODSWORTH LOCAL CARE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING TUESDAY FEBRUARY 13[TH] 2024 REPORT FROM THE CHAIR – YEAR ENDING DEC 2023

John King, LLC Secretary, who died after a short illness was a much-loved and valued committee member. He was no keyboard warrior but was renowned for his meticulously annotated minutes that were always painstakingly handwritten in capital letters. It fell upon his fellow committee members to transcribe his minutes into a legible format but with a winning smile like John’s, who could possibly deny his requests for a volunteer typist? RIP John

Transport, Mobility Equipment and Prescripton Requests

There were 19 requests for transport. Whilst Midhurst was closed to traffic between March and June, LLC volunteers very kindly ensured that one of our parishioners was able to continue enjoying her weekly outing to the Grange in Midhurst.

There were 7 requests for mobility equipment and 3 requests for prescription collection. The drop in demand for prescription collections is principally due to a free delivery service offered by the NHS and participating partners.

We would like to thank all the volunteer drivers for their ongoing support.

Defbrillators

There are 3 defibrillators in the Parish. Each one is registered on the national defibrillator network (THE CIRCUIT) which maps defibrillators across the UK, connecting them directly and automatically to each ambulance service. It is the responsibility of each appointed ‘guardian’ to update the Circuit database as to the health of the battery and expiry dates of the pads. The ‘guardians’ of each defibrillator in our Parish are now as follows:

Lodsworth Larder management have agreed to conduct weekly checks on the battery status, however it remains the ultimate responsibility of Lodsworth Local Care to oversee the health of the defibrillator

Foodbank

There have been no voucher requests this year. In conjunction with Lodsworth Larder, through social media, we continue to promote the Foodbank Container at the Larder. We would like to thank Pauline Guppy for her continued support in delivering the contents of the Foodbank Container to the central warehouse.

Lunch Club

Established in 2021, the lunch club continues to prove a popular event with an average turn out of 14 paying guests and 2 members of the clergy. Thanks are extended to our loyal team of helpers who include Sally Hunt, Sandy West and Helen Cruickshank. Donations to the Lunch Club were gratefully received from Lodsworth Parish Council and the Village Fete Committee whose generosity allowed all to enjoy a fully catered Christmas Lunch which gave Maria Dimond and the team a well-deserved break from kitchen duties. We would like to thank the Village Hall Management Committee for their continued support in allowing us to use the Club Room free of charge. In January we raised the cost of the lunch from £10 to £13 per head, the additional £3 is donated to the Village Hall to cover the energy costs incurred by the Lunch Club.

Commitee

In October the committee, who are all founding members of LLC, agreed that it was perhaps time to pass on the baton. We are delighted to announce that Philippa Matthew, Anne Sankey, Alison Cahill and Sally Ann Lewis will be taking over the reins of LLC in 2024. We would like to thank them for stepping up to the plate and wish them all the very best in their forthcoming role.
