Introduction
We are reporting on the year April 2020 - March 2021.
The activity of the group has continued to be impacted by the restrictions to manage the Covid19 pandemic.
These restrictions meant that we were not able to consider running sessions again until November 2020, and then due to social distance guidelines, only for people who could ride independently.
We had to have rigorous risk assessments approved by RDA National Office, and I thank our Secretary Louise Peeters for taking the lead on those.
Even with those in place we were only able to run sessions for 4 weeks in November and December 2020 before we had to shut again for another lockdown, not starting again until May 2021.
However these sessions were a great success and that is down to the helpers who adopted all the new procedures.
Our charge per session has been £8.00 since September 2018, the BG were charge has been £8.50 per horse since April 2019.
We continue to operate on just Tuesdays, and there is no capacity to change this in the foreseeable future.
Riders and Riding Opportunities

We have 40 registered riders, but due to the restrictions only 19 have been able to take part in the sessions.

We have 22 registered volunteers (including Trustees), 12 who have are able to regularly help with riding or riding related support this year.

We have 2 qualified coaches (Jaspa and Louise) with 2 coaches in training (Caroline and Holly).

We provided 48 sessions in the 4 weeks we were able to ride, which is obviously marked lower that previous years compared to previous years:

We have nobody on our waiting list at the moment, but are not actively advertising, but currently have more demand than capacity and Jaspa and the coaches are working out ways to manage that.

We have not run a group holiday again this year due to the pandemic.

The National Championships were cancelled again.

We have not been able to hold an Open Day again, and as a result of only limited numbers of people being able to ride the coaches felt it was only fair to all riders to defer again awarding cups etc.
Governance
- Voting members
The constitution of the group continues to be that all registered volunteers and riders become voting members unless they choose to opt out. Please let me know if you wish to opt out.
Conclusion
It goes without saying it’s been a challenging year for all RDA groyps, but we should be proud that we were one of only a small number who stared riding again when we could in November.
Some groups have still not been able to start again.
That’s a tribute to the coaches and helpers, so a big thank you for that.
It is my intention to resign as Chair, I feel it’s in the groups and my best interest. I’m happy to remain in post until the 2022 AGM and support the transition to my replacement.
