For the public benefit to advance the education (including academic, social skills and ethical training) of young talents (under the age of 25) in Africa in such ways as the charity trustees think fit. We identify these young talents in Africa and mentor them to realise their potential and become effective leaders who contribute to their communities.

Our main focus is mentoring. We provide mentors for our students who inspire, guide and support them to make the right decisions for their future. Another major activity is organising summer camps for our students and providing opportunity for networking. Participation in all activities is free for selected students.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)

Our volunteer staff continue to offer invaluable services to our charity free of charge. Some of our volunteers go a step to support students from their own resources and facilitate networking and organised outreach services for our students.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

We are slowly recovering from the scourge of the pandemic. Our focus has been mainly on updating our website and building our online presence. We are gradually expanding our volunteer mentor database. We have achieved modest success in attracting qualified volunteers in African universities.

We have been able to attract new volunteer coordinators and projects assistants and interns to support our effort without cost to us. All our activities were ran by our volunteer team, which means we do not have overhead cost.

Section E Financial review

The policy on our reserves is to keep in our bank account to earn interest.

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves

Details of any funds materially We did not incur any deficit during the year in deficit

Further financial review details (Optional information)

You may choose to include additional information, where relevant about:

We did not fundraise for this financial year. Because of this we did not run our annual summer camp this year. Our main focus has been on mentoring.

We continue to rely on our volunteer coordinators to run our activities, and these dedicated individuals provide their services and expertise at no cost to our charity.

We do not have any major asset. We operate from a small, dedicated space provided by the director in Cambridge at no cost to us. We considered this a good choice as we have given that we are only a small charity.
