Summary of the Main Activities Undertaken for the Public Benefit in Relation to the Charity's Objects
The Charity has been focusing on core areas of Disaster Relief, Education, and Health.
Hunger relief - Guatemala
Covid was especially tough for Guatemala as most businesses closed and communities were decimated which saw many young people dying and countless more were hungry.
Together with our local NGO partner, AMOR Guatemala, we managed to feed 50 families and 190 children who were suffering from acute malnutrition.
Food parcels were sent to an area called Tierra Colorado, where there is a mine where migrant children, women and the elderly are forced to work beneath the hot sun all day long, seven days a week, to scrape out a living. These children are malnourished at the best of times, but during the pandemic things were much much worse for them.
SDN 4 Sigar Penjalin Block School - Indonesia
In partnership with Block-Solutions and Classroom of Hope, we built 1 Block School consisting of 3 classrooms in Lombok which serves 276 children.
During July and August of 2018, the northern regions of the island of Lombok, were struck by several major earthquakes, which caused hundreds of deaths and massive damage to houses and public infrastructure, including more than 700 school buildings. In the months that followed, the government, various NGOs, and private stakeholders began to rebuild and renovate some schools, but years later there are still many school trying to function without adequate spaces or facilities.
Sigar Penjalin Primary School is one such school. The school is located in the village of Sira, in Tanjung Region, North Lombok and has a population of around 3,000, whose main income is hospitality or coconut farming. The school had eight of its eleven classrooms rebuilt or repaired, but was left three classrooms short, meaning its 276 students lacked sufficient learning facilities.
Construction using recycled plastic blocks
The school was constructed in a total of 28 days by a local construction team. As the classrooms were built on the same site as the pre-existing classrooms, the remaining foundations were left in place and extended by about 20m2, and a layer of concrete added on top of the old floor to ensure the surface was level and smooth. A step was also incorporated along the front side of the foundation. Preparing the foundation took seven days to complete.
The recycled plastic blocks from Block Solutions, a Finland-based company, who has developed environmentally friendly "block modules". Block modules are used for building sustainable and safe buildings that are affordable, durable, sustainable, easy to build, and can be dismantled and rebuilt. The blocks are comprised of various forms of recycled plastic, such as PET plastic bottles, PP, and PE plastic, which are washed and broken down into granules and then mixed with wood fibres before being processed into an injection moulding machine to create the blocks. The new Block School at SDN 4 Sigar Penjalin is the second-ever school built using Block Solutions technology.
Education & housing program - Nepal
In partnership with The Nepal Initiative and The Lighthouse Foundation, we provided funding for the housing and education of a group of 35 underprivileged and vulnerable children from some of the remotest areas of Nepal. The children all come from villages with limited access to schooling, food and sanitary living conditions, and where there is a high risk of trafficking.
The children are cared for by the Lighthouse Foundation, which was established in 2009 as non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization seeking to ensure the minimum standard of living for Nepalese children who are destitute, socially excluded, vulnerable and whose existence has been jeopardized by sexual abuse, violence, trafficking and conflict. LHFN currently operates 2 hostels in Kathmandu with 150 children. It provides a safe and nurturing environment for the children to heal, learn and grow.
Gulmeshwori Basic School (GBS) - Nepal
Located at Mandandewpur Municipality Kavrepalanchok, GBS was struggling to provide quality education to their students with their existing infrastructure.
AOKC, in partnership with Kids of Kathmandu started the construction of a new building in 2020 utilising rammed earth technology which will consist of 3 classrooms, a library, a computer lab, and a green roof.
The many advantages of building with rammed earth include strength and durability, superior thermal mass, temperature and noise control, low maintenance, fire proofing, as well as its beauty and the pleasure of building with a natural and environmentally sound material.
GBS was inaugurated in October 2021 and now provides education to 125 students.
Construction of a Birthing Centre - Nepal
In partnership with The Oda Foundation, we provided funding for the construction of a birthing clinic to increase access to a safe birthing environment for Kalikot’s more geographically isolated communities.
The Oda Foundation conducted a district wide survey of more than 700 women with at least one child under the age of 5. Through this survey, it was discovered that roughly 50% of women were still giving birth at home. Of those who gave birth at home, 8% did so with an untrained local midwife, 37% with the assistance of a family member, and 6% entirely alone. Furthermore, only 5% of women who gave birth at home responded that they did so out of choice. The most common reasons for home delivery were not wanting to walk at night and the nearest health facility being too far away (an average distance of 53 minutes by foot).
Using rammed earth technology the birthing centre was constructed on the Oda Foundation campus in Mahawai rural municipality and provides an excellent natural temperature grading system. The density of the walls has the ability to store heat energy, slowly releasing it as the day gets colder. During the warm seasons, the same ability keeps the interior cool as the day gets dotter. The material is fire-proof, pest-proof and can withstand earthquakes.
Khum Koh Chivaing Primary School - Cambodia
Located in Anlong Ta Ou Village in Battambang Province, Cambodia, Khum Koh Chivaing Primary School was desperately in need of a new school building. Khum Koh Chivaing Primary School was built in 1964 and consisted of two floating wooden buildings, a larger one with four classrooms and a smaller one with three classrooms. The smaller building was still in good condition, but the other building was on the verge of collapse and beyond repair. This old wooden building posed a danger to the children and therefore urgently needed to be replaced.
To address this pressing situation, together with our partners Child's Dream and Classroom of Hope, we supported Anlong Ta Ou Village with the construction of one new concrete school building including a total of six fully-furnished classrooms and eight new toilets. The new school building replaces the larger dilapidated building, while the smaller building has been donated to another school. Construction of Khum Koh Chivaing Primary School was fully completed on 23 June 2021.
The School serves 402 students (220 girls and 182 boys), ranging in age from six to 12 years old, and employs ten teachers (7 females and 3 males).
Kanseng Primary School - Cambodia
Kanseng Primary School, located in Kanseng Village of Cambodia, consisted of four school buildings. One of the buildings was in reasonable condition while the other three buildings were not. Of the buildings in poor condition, one was structurally unsafe and the others were unsuitable environments for students and teachers. The three buildings were in dire need of removal out of safety concerns.
Together with our partners Child's Dream and Classroom of Hope, we provided a solution to this critical problem by constructing one fully- furnished school building with five classrooms and six new toilets. Construction of Kanseng Primary School began in the beginning of October 2021 and was fully completed 9th December 2021.
The construction of the new school building encourages the students to fully participate in their schooling and will emphasise the importance of education to the whole community. Replacing the
unsafe buildings with a new building creates a positive, safe and encouraging space to learn, grow and develop for both students and teachers. We also built six new toilets to proactively accommodate a growing student population ensuring that hygiene related illnesses are minimalized.
The school serves 476 students (247 boys and 229 girls) ranging in age from six to twelve years old with 16 employed teachers (6 males and 10 females).

Overview
During the period, the Charity received £204,091 in total donations and income from fundraising activities.
The Charity had Marketing costs of £1,015 in Costs of generating voluntary receipts , mainly from transfer, donation platform and bank fees. The charity had no governance costs, and paid no salaries.
The Charity made multiple grants, amounting to £185,900, as set out in more detail in the Charity accounts.
The balance of the charity’s available cash on the 31/12/2021 was £48,605. The charity has no other assets.

Respective The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. responsibilities of The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year trustees and examiner under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Charities Act”) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

Basis of independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. Independent In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my examiner's statement attention (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:
-
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or
-
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or
-
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
