the growing crisis of abandoned

education and support to public
bodies, horse owners, and the
general public, to prevent cruelty
and suffering of horses.
• Having in mind our strong
commitment to public benefit, we
work with local authority partners,
the police, other public agencies, and
local communities, to highlight and
respond to the escalating crisis of
abandoned horses, alive and dead,
which cause considerable distress to
the general public, and increase
pressure on local authorities and the

We continued to undertake the BHS
progressive tests which covers both riding
and stable management and have also
worked with a riding school to provide

equestrian centre as part of their summer
camps and gave lectures on horse welfare
including health and welfare of the pony,
bandaging and how to treat minor injuries
and stable management, field management
and poisonous plants
One of our rescue ponies ‘Bubble’ is with a
riding school and is now in full work, hacking
out and jumping a course of little jumps. He
has also taken part in pony summer camp

presentation by one of our local farriers,
with the opportunity for people to ask

These objectives were primarily achieved by
the holiday camps held in the Summer
available to any interested person. These
included lectures on horse welfare such as
information on the farrier, minor ailments,
health and welfare of the pony, bandaging
and how to treat minor injuries and stable
management, all of which proved very
popular with young and old. Also via our
progressive British Horse Society tests
undertaken at our local riding society.
Information is then put on our website and
facebook so that any one can access this at
