Supporting cultural developments in Gloucester

Trustees Report for GUST Charity No 1164727 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025

GUST is now well established as an incubator and collaborative partner in Gloucester’s cultural sector. Over this period we have continued to support Voices Gloucester to transition to independence and worked closely with Gloucester Culture Trust in the launch of Together Gloucester, an Arts Council England funded Priority Place programme.

Voices Gloucester

Having incubated Voices Gloucester for several years, our relationship formally came to a close over this period with Voices Gloucester established as an independent CIO in April 2024. In order to support the transition, a GUST Trustee joined the Board of this CIO for 12 months (until 31 December 2025).

Voices Gloucester continues to deliver extraordinary work highlighting hidden histories and promoting wider engagement in heritage. Information about all Voices activity in this period is available online (https://voicesgloucester.org.uk/voices-archive/).

Together Gloucester

Following a successful Arts Council England Place Partnership bid, Gloucester Culture Trust launched Together Gloucester in March 2024 (https://gloucesterculture.org.uk/projects/together-gloucester/). GUST is one of nine partners collaborating to deliver the programme. Our particular focus is to support the incubation of emerging cultural organisations and individuals.

In late 2024 we began conversations with the Gloucester based founders of Kings Jam Festival (https://www.kingsjamfestival.com/). Having been dormant for a number of years, Together Gloucester is supporting an initiative to examine opportunities to establish Kings Jam as a sustainable cultural festival in the city’s calendar. Looking ahead to 2025-26, GUST will be collaborating with the Kings Jam team and broader stakeholders to explore next steps.

The total income for the charity in the year to March 31st 2025 was £128,292 against £149,564 year ended March 31st 2024. We closed the year with unrestricted cash of £6,679.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/03/2023 .

Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation basis of report of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters examiner's statement have come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

• accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or

• the accounts do not accord with the accounting records

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
