In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings.
We continue to regularly update our open-access website to benefit the public through the latest up to date knowledge and information on Art History in schools, from primary level up to the new Edexcel A-level in Art History for Sixth Form students. Section D Achievements and performance
New online version of the Pearson/Edexcel History of Art syllabus written Summary of the main with the National Extension College achievements of the charity The new online NEC A-level went live in January 2020. This has given during the year every school student a chance to study the A-level even if it is not taught at their school. Excellent value at £795 (or £750 on special offer) for full two-year course with ebook, materials, and personal online tutor. By the end of December 2020, 100 students (school and mature) had signed up including a quarter from the north of England where no schools offer the subject. Bursaries for the Art teachers to take the National Extension College online Pearson Art History A-level
To encourage take up of the course AHiS provided three full bursaries to state sector Art teachers for the fast track A-level to take the examination in July 2021. To promote diversity these included one specified for a BAME teacher, and one for a school in the north of England.

Section D Achievements and erformance p
Major Events (1) Monday 13[th] January - A-level History of Art training day for 25 Pre-U teachers who will transfer to A-Level teaching from September 2020 or from September 2021 at the latest, hosted by Godolphin and Latymer School. (2) Due to Covid 19 all live events in schools, museums and galleries from March 2020 were cancelled. However, in July Sarah Phillips contributed to the University of Leeds CPD for Art teachers for the fourth year online. (3) We provided online Continuous Professional Development on the theme of Art & War for the annual Ways of Seeing Conference organised by the Association for Art History on 21 November 2020 hosted by the National Gallery. The keynote speaker was our patron Jeremy Deller. A-level Resources This year we have concentrated on editing the NEC course, and adding resources based on our teaching events. We are grateful to ex Pre-U teachers for their contributions. Primary Programmes AHiS Primary year-long project Curious Curators was postponed due to Covid 19. Enrichment Programme The 6-week enrichment programmes, and the in-schools launch of the NEC A-Level were all put on hold due to Covid 19. The Art History Café Reading Groups in preparation for Higher Education continued online with five London schools. We shared materials online for Black History Month and will work to add these to the website over the next year. Partnerships The US based website ‘Smart History’ continue to write materials specifically for the new A-level syllabus, and we are now working on a film project with them. We continue to be a partnership organisation with the ARTiculation Prize organised through Roche Court, however our combined event at Dulwich Picture Gallery had to be postponed due to Covid 19. We continue to support and promote the Art UK ‘Write on Art’ competition and SPoKE film competition. We remain part of the ‘Art History Matters’ network based at the Paul Mellon Centre. We continue to update a data base of school, university students and teachers willing to support our projects, and send out a biannual newsletter of events. Staff Daniel Greaney continued to support us on a freelance basis.

Our main source of funding continues to be donations from individuals and associated organisations. We plan a fund-raising campaign in 2021 to support state school students to take the NEC A-level.

Section F Other optional information
Future Plans:
We will continue to work closely with the Association for Art History providing their schools programme both at their annual Ways of Seeing conference, and on their teacher training programme in Leeds. We plan to hold our major annual Higher Education Conference and Fair online in summer 2021. We continue online teacher-training and mentoring.
Our major focus will be in relation to the NEC online A-level. We plan to launch our postponed fundraising campaign to raise money for state Sixth Form students to study the NEC online A-level once we are able to visit schools again.
We are working with smarthistory.org (who have secured funding) to make a series of 4 films on work by contemporary British artists on the A-Level syllabus.
