The objects of the charity set up in its governing document:

For the benefit of the public in the UK, the relief of poverty of people who are in conditions of need by reason of sickness, age or economic circumstances, by the provision of non-perishable and in-date food.

At Universal Harvest we provide a range of services in tackling poverty where it matters most. Our primary aim is the provision of bags; filled with non-perishable and in-date food items as a delivery service.

Our Mission Statement

Universal Harvest’s mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of poverty and homelessness by mobilizing the power of volunteers and support workers and the generosity of donors. Universal Harvest aims to turn compassion into action so that our communities are free from starvation through the act of giving nonperishable foods because everyone in the world should have access to the basic necessities of life.

Our Values

1. Practicing what we advise others – we firmly believe in leading by example. It is very easy to give others advice, but showing others how to practically use the knowledge goes that mile further. Application of knowledge to us is greater than the obtainment of it.

2. Equip people so they have better chances in life – with better access to training and development to improve their life skills. Encouraging them to fulfil their potentials after failing on hard times.

1. Working with hope – Our aim is never to bash any of our beneficiaries, whom may come from all backgrounds, but to educate them and get their minds on thinking about the root causes of what may have got them into the place we want to help them out of.

2. Building strong, better networks and communities – From ensuring we train our volunteers as responsible stewards, to collaborating with communities to reach out those in need.

Our Activities

Universal Harvest remains committed to relieving poverty across the UK, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds are supported in times of need. Over the past year, we have not only expanded the scale of our operations but also achieved some of the ambitious goals we set out last year. Our efforts focus on:

1. Providing Comprehensive Support - We continue to offer vital assistance to those facing unexpected hardship, such as homelessness, illness, unemployment, and age-related challenges, by distributing nutritious, non-perishable food provisions. This year, we have increased the number of families reached, ensuring no one in need is left behind.

2. Expanding Advisory and Workshop Services - In addition to food support, we’ve significantly expanded our advisory services and workshops. Beneficiaries now receive tailored guidance on overcoming poverty, regaining stability, and enhancing financial literacy. This year, we launched new workshops focused on employment skills and mental health, recognizing that a holistic approach is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty.

3. Strengthening Partnerships with Charities - Our partnership network has grown substantially, with over 15 local and national charities collaborating with us to identify beneficiaries and maximize our collective impact. This has allowed us to reach some of the most vulnerable populations across multiple boroughs and increase the depth of our assistance.

Our Achievements in 2022/2023

We achieved significant milestones in 2022/ 2023 by:

1. Targeting Areas of Highest Need - Leveraging the latest research, we expanded our focus to include some of the most deprived areas across London and beyond. We identified and supported high-need areas in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Barking & Dagenham, and Greenwich, where poverty rates continue to be a pressing concern.

2. Sustained Operation in Newham - Our Newham project, which has now operated for two years, remains a cornerstone of our efforts. Over 1,000 food bags have been distributed in Newham alone, with an expanded network of local voluntary groups and charities helping to identify individuals in need.

1. Increasing Food Distribution Capacity - Over the past year, we’ve tripled our food distribution efforts, providing healthy, non-perishable food items each month to local charities and community groups. Our beneficiaries have expressed profound gratitude, and we’re proud to have expanded the reach of these services beyond the initial six months.

2. Broadening Our Impact - This year, we successfully expanded our footprint to include three additional boroughs: Tower Hamlets, Barking & Dagenham, and Greenwich. As a result, we’ve touched the lives of hundreds more individuals, and our food distribution and support services continue to grow, building stronger and more resilient communities.

As we move forward, Universal Harvest remains committed to reducing poverty through sustained efforts, continued partnerships, and innovative approaches to food security. Our vision for the future includes:

Provision of Non-Perishable Food Packs

Our core activity of providing non-perishable food packs continues to have a meaningful impact on individuals and families experiencing hardship. Each pack is thoughtfully prepared, containing everyday essentials such as rice, pasta, tea bags, vegetable oil, seasoning, and beans. These items are crucial for those who may not have regular access to nutritious meals, whether they are homeless or struggling financially.

Community Feedback and Positive Outcomes

Feedback from our service users consistently highlights the difference our food packs are making in their lives. Whether providing immediate relief to the homeless or offering support to families facing economic difficulties, our food bags are helping people stay nourished and maintain their health during tough times.
