FRIENDS OF TY COCH TRUSTEE REPORT
The Trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the period ended 31[st] March 2025.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Organisational structure
The charity is run by the Board of Trustees. The Trustees take responsibility for the strategic planning and monitoring of the work of the charity. The Board may establish sub-committees and working parties to carry out functions on its behalf. Implementation of the organisation’s aims and objectives and the day-to-day administration of the charity is delegated to the Chairperson and Treasurer. Operational matters, including finance and employment, are managed within the delegated authority approved by the Trustees.
Governing document
Friends of Ysgol Ty Coch is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, incorporated on 9 June 2014.
Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
When vacancy arise Trustees are appointed. New Trustees are invited to attend and observe regular meetings of Friends of Ysgol Ty Coch. They are supported by a trustee mentor and encouraged to participate in the organisation and planning of fundraising and community events. All Trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or other benefits.
Related parties and co-operation with other organisations
Friends of Ysgol Ty Coch have continued to strengthen their partnerships with Signature Property Finance and Woody’s Lodge, whose generous financial contributions provide valuable support to our work.
We are extremely fortunate to have the backing of local businesses and parents, whose ongoing fundraising efforts further enhance the opportunities and experiences we are able to offer our learners.
Risk management
The Trustees have a duty to identify and review the risks to which the charity is exposed and to ensure appropriate controls are in place to provide reasonable assurance against fraud and error. The planning and organisation of events is discussed at meetings where stakeholders are invited to contribute, ensuring a fair and transparent decision-making process.
OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
Objectives and aims
The main objective of Friends of Ysgol Ty Coch is to provide additional facilities and resources to Ysgol Ty Coch that enhance the education, wellbeing and personal development of its pupils. Ysgol Ty Coch provides a positive and inclusive learning environment for children and young people with additional learning needs.
Achievements and performance
This year, additional funding was allocated to support a variety of enrichment activities for learners within the school. These included small-scale, enjoyable in-school experiences and events aimed at promoting wellbeing, encouraging social interaction, and fostering a positive school culture. While modest in cost, these activities offered valuable opportunities for pupils to unwind, build connections, and participate in shared experiences that contribute to a supportive and engaging learning environment.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Signature Property Finance for their valued support of our charity. Their ongoing commitment has played a significant role in enabling us to enhance the experiences and opportunities we provide for our learners. Their contribution has made a meaningful difference, and we greatly appreciate their involvement and continued encouragement of our work.
Financial review
The charity has had a positive year with some small donations, along with lottery and Just giving money being received. We received donations from Signature Property Finance of £14,480, a donation from Pontypridd Ladies Darts of £500 and £3,500 from a Golf Day, which we are very thankful for.
Reserves policy
The Trustees have examined the charity’s reserves requirements in light of its objectives and have established a policy that projects will not be undertaken unless sufficient reserves are available. On 31[st] March 2025, Friends of Ysgol Ty Coch held cash at bank of £60,681.
Future developments
The charity will continue to support pupils at Ysgol Ty Coch through the development of outdoor learning and Forest School provision as well as providing small scale activities to promote wellbeing, social interaction and a positive school culture. We are looking to provide a large contribution towards the development of the sports hall as well as improving the outside play area. Looking ahead, one of our key strategic priorities is the purchase of a new minibus to enhance transport provision for pupils. This initiative will further support access to educational visits, sporting fixtures, community events and enrichment opportunities. The minibus will play a vital role in ensuring all learners particularly those who may face barriers to participation can benefit fully from off-site experiences.
Public Benefit Statement
In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activities, the trustees have considered the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit, including the guidance on ‘public benefit: running a charity (PB2).
The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

FRIENDS OF TY COCH INDEPENDENT EXAMINER REPORT
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the period ended 31 March 2025, which are set out on pages 4 to 5.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011(the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
-
have not been met; or
(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
