## **Annual Report for the year ended 30th April 2022**

The Trustees submit their annual report for the above year during which we were able to negotiate a contract with the NHS in West Sussex which enabled vaccinations to occur during the period September 2021 through to March 2022 to local people in the Sidlesham area.

In the previous year during the height of the covid crisis the Trustees were unable to let the hall facilities with the consequence that no income from lettings occurred. The NHS contract, however, generated income of £25,237 during the year ended 2021/22 or 87% of our annual income. The balance of income was made up through our cafe income, an Open Day event and a Brica-Brack sale. Prior to the NHS letting in September 2021, it was possible to let the hall and facilities which generated a small income of £280.

As regards outgoings, and since the Sidlesham Football Club's withdrawal from both the ground and internal facilities, it became evident that a substantial cost would be necessary to enable the facilities to be made safe and presentable before any letting could occur, including to the NHS. In the financial year 2021/22 renovation expenditure began amounting to £2,467 aside from running costs of £521. There remains outstanding a contingent liability in respect of electricity costs. This liability was not agreed due to a single meter for both the changing rooms as well as other parts of the building and is to be settled during the subsequent financial year.

In summary, the Association had a successful financial year with a surplus of £25,522 compared with a small loss during the covid closure of the previous year of £122. In a post balance sheet discussion with the Sidlesham Parish Council (SPC) and the Association the former decided that they did not wish to risk the costs associated with a new hall. In consequence - and mindful of the Community Association's objectives – it was jointly agreed that both the SPC and SCA would contribute to the renovation and renewal of the main hall and exterior of the building with each party agreeing to contribute up to £25,000 each. This decision was reached in the knowledge that the repair and renewal was the sole responsibility of the SPC after the failure of the previous tenant to fulfil their legal liability.

This recent background has been set out fully in view of the legal Objectives of the Association which is to raise funds towards the building of a new community hall on the freehold land owned by the Parish Council known as The Memorial Playing Fields.

As regards governance, there has been no retirements of trustees following an influx of four new trustees two year ago. The appointed trustees have given excellent service in practical ways during the covid lock down and reenergised the longer term plans for the anticipated redevelopment of the site.
