## Trustees’ Annual Report for the period from 1[st] April 2023 to 31[st] March 2024

Charity name: Activebase Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Charity registration number: 1164562

## Objectives and Activities

## Aims of the Charity

To advance the education and welfare of the community by associating together residents with statutory, voluntary and other organisations, particularly by providing community buildings for recreational, social and educational activities.

## Summary of Main Activities by the Charity

The charity was established for the initial purpose of providing local community management for Isleworth Public Hall (IPH), South Street, Isleworth. In support of this initial purpose, the charity has undertaken organisational development work, including the development of business plans, operational policies and procedures, community research and fundraising plans.

The charity engages with stakeholders including the London Borough of Hounslow, Friends of Isleworth Public Hall (charity number 1102928), community groups and local residents to improve the facilities and usage of IPH and to achieve a shared vision for the future use and governance.

The charity has regular dialogue with the London Borough of Hounslow towards achieving community management of Isleworth Public Hall. From 1[st] November 2020, Hounslow Council took on direct management of IPH, following the end of leisure services management arrangements with Fusion Lifestyle.

## Public Benefit

The trustees have been mindful of the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, we have carefully borne this in mind in all our discussions and negotiations with the London Borough of Hounslow.

## Achievements and Performance

Since late 2020 Public Halls have been directly managed by a team within Hounslow Council. This has resulted in expenditure to enable the halls to operate in a Covid-safe way, to resolve some existing defects and to prepare for different expectations of hirers following the pandemic.

Activebase continues to work closely with Hounslow Council, Friends of Isleworth Public Hall (charity number 1102928) and other local groups to encourage usage of, and improvements to, IPH.

Hounslow Council is conducting an extensive review of Council and community buildings in the borough. Activebase has been observing and contributing as opportunities allow. The emerging strategy, and perhaps proposals for specific buildings, is expected to be available early in 2024.

The trustees are undertaking a review of the role, purpose, and future of Activebase to determine the most appropriate way to achieve its goals.
