## **Annual Report for 2023**

During the charity’s last year; Neruka's Soul Food Soup Kitchen experienced many changes. Our team’s focus was on growth and expansion of our charitable services to the community and exploring our community enterprise activities, whilst striving to maintain our focus on the vision; which is to provide food, friendship learning and volunteering in a consistently safe space for our beneficiaries and our most vulnerable and disadvantaged service users.

Our partnership with Leeds Food Aid Network continued throughout the financial year, flourishing and growing stronger. Together with other food providers, and organisations that support us with food provisions. Money Buddies, Christians against Poverty, Period products (Tina Leslie), Fuel Bank and countless other charities and businesses especially individuals whose financial and gifts of food and other essential items help to keep our supplies topped up.

We're grateful to FareShare, Rethink Food, Give A Gift, Pret A Manger, KFC, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Aldi supermarkets for keeping us topped up with fresh, ambient and surplus food throughout the year, so that everyone who has been to the soup kitchen/foodbank with varying needs, have received good quality support.

Thank you, to Unity In Poverty Action (UPA), and Leeds Christian Community Trust (LCCT) who have been strong support continually, especially helping us secure funding through the Welfare Support Fund.

At Neruka's Soul Food Soup Kitchen, we're deeply concerned about the increasing demand on the very limited supply of food needs every year. A great number of relatively young persons are looking for work and training

opportunities, in the areas. Therefore with the support of longstanding as well as new partners Neruka's Soul Food Soup Kitchen is hoping to launch a new project in 2024 that will provide work based training volunteering opportunities as well as advocacy support, which will include better signposting to additional services, workshops around health, education, finance ect.

NSFSK has been serving vulnerable people in Leeds; with varying needs for fourteen years, with the unwavering support of our volunteers, the Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic UK, Leeds Food Aid Network, Proverbs 31Woman Education & Training Centre. Unity in Poverty Action, stakeholders, friends and extended family.

The Trustees & Managent Committee, extends deep gratitude and commitment to continue extending hearts and hands in kindness, with the hope that more families and individuals in our communities will find their way forward out of poverty where they can live happy healthy lives.

We continue to invest our time and resources in hope.
