## Annual Report

Despite the ongoing impacts of the Covid19 pandemic, 2021 has been a highly productive year for our trust and building.

Rentals of our main hall, offices and other spaces have continued steadily despite the pandemic:

- Action for Children/Mid Devon Children’s Centre continues to use our main office as their Cullompton satellite.

- Cullompton Community College has used the main hall throughout the academic year as an extra PE changing room so that PE lessons could continue within Covid safety rules. The College will continue to use the main hall, lounge and kitchen for 1:1 tuition.

- Youth work, led by YMCA Dulverton, has continued steadily during the lock-down, focusing on outreach and providing drinks and outdoor advice until indoor meetings were permitted. Sessions continue on Monday and Thursday evenings.

- Activ8, a youth theatre group, have started to use the Centre for rehearsals.

-

- Devon Young Carers and Cullompton Majorettes are also renting our hall for their sessions.

To our frustration, the trust’s charity bank account was shut down, without prior notice, by HSBC this August. As shown in the trust’s accounts, two of our trustees, Sue Robinson (Treasurer) and Martin Smith (Chair), kindly managed incoming and outgoing finances from their personal bank accounts for the remainder of this year. Our Treasurer, Sue, is currently processing an application for a charity account with The Co-Operative Bank; once this is approved, all funds will be repaid by the trust to Sue and Martin.

Alongside incomes from the letting of the building, the trust has also benefited enormously from generous donations made by trustee John Chard and the Leather Sellers’ Foundation. Our treasurer, Sue Robinson, has also made a number of successful applications for relevant Covid19 support grants.

With this financial backing, the trust have been working steadily over the last year to refurbish and improve facilities at the centre, in preparation for a re-launch of our provision to the local community in the new year.

As part of our complete refurbishment of the centre’s spaces, current and future lessees will now benefit from:

- Newly installed double glazing throughout the building;

- A new boiler and heating system;

- New flooring in the main hall and lounge area;

- A newly fitted kitchen with new appliances and two workstations for cookery teaching;

- A professional outdoor basketball stand;

- An additional secure office space following repurposing of our large storage room/cupboard;

- A newly installed CCTV system with remote access;

- A re-commissioned security system and intruder alarm;

- Updated fire safety equipment;

- A more spacious forecourt and parking area following movement of the storage container;

- Redecoration throughout.

The trustees look forward to another successful year in 2022, with a focus on promoting our new facilities, hosting a greater number of support and community organisations and further broadening our offer to local people.
