**`OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES`** ## **`Objectives and aims`** ``` TheobjectivesoftheCharityaretoadvanceeducationinIndiaandothercountriesinSouthAsia, and promotionofhealthcare,relief,advocacyandadvancementoftheChristianfaithinthesecountriesby all charitable means as may seem appropriate by the Charity. ``` ``` TheCharityisworkingintheshorttermtosupporttheworkofpartnersinIndiarunningschools, primary healthandrelatedprojects.Criticalprojectssuchasfooddistribution,virtualandregularhealth centres orclinicsandschoolsrunningonlineclassesforstudentshavebeensupportedbytheCharityduring the year.Thecharitysawamarkedgrowthinfundingtowardsstrategicmulti-yearprojectsin education, community health and women and child-centric relief and development activities. ``` ``` SupportoftheexistingprimaryandhighschoolprogramsrunbypartnersinIndiaarea long-term priorityforthecharityasseveralprojectsoperateholistically,combiningeducation,healthand economic development initiatives. ``` ## **`Public benefit`** ``` TheTrusteeshavereferredtotheguidancecontainedintheCharityCommission'sgeneralguidance on public benefit when reviewing the Charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities. ``` ## **`Fundraising and Grants`** ``` TheTrusteesareresponsibleforfundraisingandincomegenerationforprojects.Thecharitydoes not consideritnecessarytohirefulltimefundraisingstaff,keepinginmindtherestrictionsontravel and other prevailing uncertainties relating to the pandemic and related risk to UK staff. ``` ``` Grantscontinuetobemadebykeypartnerswhoarefullyengagedinprojectsthatalignbothinterms of short term and long-term objects of the charity. ``` ## **`ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE`** ## **`Charitable activities`** ``` Duringtheyearto30April2024GSFUKfundededucationforvulnerablegirlsatrisksbothatthe shelter andacrossvariousGoodShepherdSchoolsacrossIndia.Thefoundationwaspleasedtofund priority Bibleliteraturedistributionactivitiesforcommunitiesforyoungadultsandthesupplyof educational resourcessuchasschoolbookstochildreninneed.ReliefworkintheStateofManipurwasalsofunded by the Charity for many victims of the ongoing unrest in the State. ``` ``` Also,duringtheyear,Dr.AlisonMalcolmwasabletoreviewtheprojectsfundedinIndia,notable[a] the newfullyfunctionaltherapycentre:Thiscentrecaterstochildrenwithphysicaland developmental challenges,offeringphysiotherapy,occupationaltherapy,speechtherapy,behaviouraltherapy, and psychologicalservices,alongwithessentialequipmentand[b]ANewParamedicalTrainingCentre: The facility includes a skills lab (complete with training dummies) and classrooms. ``` ``` Currently,wehave61studentspursuingparamedicalstudies,andlastmonth,theGoodShepherd Clinic providedoutpatientcareto3,248individualsacrossspecialtieslikepaediatrics, dermatology, gynaecology,familymedicine,andphysiotherapy.Additionally,2,000patientsreceivedcare via telehealthservices.Thisworkhasaprofoundimpactonthehealthandempowermentof many, particularlywomenandchildren,whilemeetingourfoundationalgoalsto:Providematernaland childcare facilities,establishacentralhubforphysiciansandsupportteams,anddevelopasustainablemodel for vocational and professional healthcare training. ``` ``` Page 1 ``` ``` GOOD SHEPHERD FOUNDATION UK ``` ## **`REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 APRIL 2024`** ## **`FINANCIAL REVIEW`** ## **`Principal funding sources`** ``` TheGoodShepherdFoundationUKexperiencedayearoffinancialchallenges,markedbyreduced income and scaled-down activities in response to ongoing global uncertainties. ``` ``` Inresponsetoreducedincome,thetrusteestookprudentmeasurestostreamlineoperationsand focus onessentialprojects.Keyareasofsupportincludededucationalinitiatives,healthcareprograms, and targetedpovertyreliefefforts.Byprioritizingstrategicprojectsandminimizingoperationalcosts, the foundation ensured that critical services remained uninterrupted. ``` ``` Thefinancialresultsfortheyeararesetoutintheattachedaccounts.Totalincomeraisedforthe year ended30April2024was£350,924(2023:£740,922).Therewasadeficitof£72,454(2023: £551,168) fortheyear.Thetotalreservesat30April2024were£512,953(2023:£585,407).Total expenditure during the year was £423,378 (2023: £1,292,090). ``` ## **`Investment policy and objectives`** ``` The Charity maintains its surplus cash in a deposit account with the Charity's bankers. ``` ## **`Reserves policy`** ``` Thecharityreviewsit'sreservesonanongoingbasisandconsiderstheyearendreserveswhich in majorityrepresentunrestrictedfundstobeadequatetomeetitsfuturecommitmentsand obligations relating to funding for projects and aid requirements. ``` ``` Potentialriskshavebeenconsideredbythetrustees,anditsstructureallowsflexibilityinorder to manage any subsequent adverse financial impact that may arise. ``` ## **`FUTURE PLANS`** ``` TheCharitywillcontinuetoadvancethedevelopmentofeducation,healthcare,providerelief from povertyandnaturalandotherdisastersaswellascontinuetoadvancetheChristianfaiththrough legally permitted opportunities in countries that are sensitive to promotion of faith-based activities. ``` ## **`STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT`** ## **`Governing document`** ``` TheCharityisacompanylimitedbyguarantee,asdefinedbytheCompaniesAct2006.Itisgoverned by its Memorandum and Articles of Association since its incorporation on 15 April 2015. ``` ##
