West Country Bullie Walks Trustees Annual Report

– April 2022 March 2023 Charity No 1164278

Aims and Objectives To relieve the suffering and distress of Bull Terriers in UK rescues which are in need by reason of sickness, maltreatment or poor circumstances. To promote humane behaviour towards animals, specifically Bull Terriers, by providing appropriate care, treatment and security for animals, specifically Bull Terriers, which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment or ill usage and to educate the public in matters pertaining to the welfare of animals, specifically Bull Terriers and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among Bull Terriers.

A successful year coming out of the pandemic. Walks started up properly all around the West Country with more new members joining attending with their Bullies.

Bullie Bash was held at Holiday Resort Unity for the first time. People were glad to meet up with old friends they hadn’t seen since before the pandemic which made for a great atmosphere. HRU were pleased with our event and invited us back for next year. We made just over £6000 with 200+ dogs attending. The venue was brilliant.

We have a great following with supporters and donations enabling us to continue helping Bull Terriers and Staffordshire Bull Terriers in rescues. We helped 68 dogs in 22 different rescues. We held auctions and received some donations which enabled us to help the rescues.

Our membership has continued to increase and members are helping with home checks, rehoming and transporting dogs to new homes.

The reputation that we have built over the years has helped donations come in from other parts of the country and has helped raise funds through the auctions we have put on and other virtual events on facebook.

Thannks go to all the WCBW trustees, members and supporters who have help our continued success.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of West Country Bullie Walks

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31/03/2023 which are set out on pages 1 to 2.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or

  2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
