SUNNINGWELL PRE-SCHOOL

Trustees’ Annual Report for the year ended 31[st] March 2022

Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity During the Year

Over the past financial year the preschool has continued to make improvements to both the physical learning environment and our daily practice to increase occupancy. This financial year we have continued to deal with the effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, this has seen some lower than usual numbers as parents and children started to return to childcare. We are also aware that we were awarded an MOD grant in the financial year 20/21 and the majority of the spending of this took place in the financial year 21/22 showing as a greater deficit in the years account.

Our forest school sessions remain popular and in high demand, we have continued to welcome all children attending on these sessions. We have been able to make significant improvements to this area using our grant from the MOD. We hope to extend the opportunities available during our sessions and build a community with our military families, utilising this space for open days and family activities etc.

Our apprentice working to achieve her NVQ3 and one member of staff working on their degree with the Open university, although this has been out on hold due to acting as manager to cover maternity leave.

Preschool pension contributions increased throughout this year and we are hoping to increase staff wages in line with the increasing national minimum wage increase. This will also mean an increase in fees for parents to accommodate these rises and the cost-of-living increases.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions preschool has had limited opportunities for fundraising events throughout the year including, we have managed some successful online events and raffles which will continue until the ease on COVID restrictions when more normal events can resume.

Summary of Main Activities and Public Benefit

We have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aim and objectives and in planning our future activities.
