The Trustees present their report together with the financial statements of Sunningwell Pre-School for the year ended 31[st] March 2021.
## **Reference and Administrative Details**
The charity is registered with the Charity Commission, number 1164257. It operates under the name Sunningwell Pre-School.
## Trustees
The following Trustees served throughout the period under review:

New Trustees are identified and appointed by existing Trustees, having been selected by virtue of their suitability. All Trustees are made aware of their responsibility to the Trust.

## **Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity During the Year**
Over the past financial year the preschool has continued to make improvements to both the physical learning environment and our daily practice to increase occupancy. This financial year has been hit with the COVID 19 pandemic, which saw 1 staff member furloughed and preschool only open for key worker children. From June 2020 preschool reopened to all children but continued with low numbers as many families kept their children at home or postponed their start dates.
Our forest school sessions remain popular and in high demand, we have continued to welcome all children attending on these sessions. We were successful in securing a grant from the MOD to make improvements and purchase equipment to extend the opportunities available during our sessions and build a community with our military families.
Our apprentice successfully completed her NVQ2 and we are now supporting her to achieve her NVQ3 and one member of staff has complete their first year of their degree with the Open university.
We have been advertising for new members of staff for a full time and part time position to support children with additional needs and to enable us to continue at full occupancy.
Preschool pension contributions increased throughout this year.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic preschool has had limited opportunities for fundraising events throughout the year including, we have managed some successful online events and raffles which will continue until the ease on COVID restrictions.
## **Summary of Main Activities and Public Benefit**
We have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aim and objectives and in planning our future activities.
The Pre-school aims to:
- Stimulate the development of local children aged 2 to 4 through play and early education
- Help these children to gain social skills
- Create a sense of belonging to the local community.

## **Policy on Reserves**
The Trustees aim to hold a reserve of £50,000 to cover staffing costs during the summer holidays and to meet unexpected expenditure.

## **Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of Sunningwell Pre-School**
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Sunningwell Pre-School for the year ended 31[st] March 2021 which are set out on pages 6 to 8.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. Accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 or the Act; or
2. The accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
