## **4. Chair’s Report** 

A copy of the Chair’s Report for the year ending April 2024 was acknowledged, handed out and read by all attendees above.  A copy is attached. 

**5. Treasurer’s Report** 

The Treasurer’s Report from April 2023 to March 2024 was acknowledged, handed out and read by all attendees.  A copy is attached. 

## **6. Project Planning** 

There was discussion around the quote for the trees and why did we not choose a local person - Debbie stated that we got 3 quotes and the local Ratby person came is as the most expensive.  We have also received a grant from the contingency fund for a push-pad for opening and closing of the doors – we’re just waiting for it to be done.  Debbie also stated that we’ve received grant of over £8k for the children’s book area, upgrading the laptops and desk computer - money for the gardening area for toys etc.  Someone asked about the laptops and Debbie stated that part of the lease includes us offering laptops for use to the public.

## **WELCOME TO YOU ALL!!** 

Firstly I want to thank all the volunteers and Trustees for their time and dedication over the past year. 

We have had a good year financially, hopefully we can do it again with Mike’s help and guidance. 

Also our Events Calendar is a fantastic achievement by our Trustee Rosie Robinson - we have had monthly events over the year that numbered 180 and one-off events of 25+. I would like thank all the volunteers - thank you!! 

These are the future plans for the library for the coming year: 

- Kitchen Project 

- Update on the Computers to Laptops 

- We are also having a new library system during November 

Short and sweet this time!!

As you can see from the figures above we have made a loss of £3,848 but are due to receive a refund of approximately £200 from Amazon. 

The café made an approximate profit of £8,698 in 23-24, which is a slight increase from the year before.  As we know the cost of living has been rising again for last year and our costs for the café have increased.  We have had to have price increases with the products we sell.  As with last year we still have lots of people visiting the café.  The amount spent is staying around the same level as the year before. 

Quiz nights, Wriggly Readers, Art Club and various knitted activities including coronation crowns, poppies, Christmas santas, chicks and woolly sheep sales.  Thank you to the people involved in running these events as we can see their contribution raises a lot of valuable funds. 

One-off donations make up £1,865 of our income for last year, which is a decrease from the previous year.  The biggest part of this year’s donation was £1,000 for expenses during the Ratby area’s gas and water problems. 

We still have two regular weekly lettings and several other more occasional ones.  The volunteers and Trustees have been developing this area and more people are starting to take advantage of it. 

As reported last year the LCC lease expects the bank account to hold a cushion of three months expenditure now and not six months as in the past.  At the moment we are well within that period with a healthy bank balance of £28,531.85. 

We have had a grant for the kitchen refurbishment which is not included in the figures above as the work is to be carried out in the next few months. 

As stated in last year’s report the financial situation had improved and both income and expenditure have increased slightly this year.  We will still have to work hard to improve the income and keep expenditure under control so that the library can stay open and serve the community.

charity ("the Trust'l for the year ended
