## WORKSOP MSUIC and DRAMA FESTIVAL

Trustees Annual General Meeting July 6[th] 2022 at The Crossing Newcastle Street Worksop

## Chairman’s Report

Although it is 2 years since we ran the festival we have kept going with the online concert last year, and 4 full days of festival entries this year which was most encouraging – apparently other festivals near us did not have as many days as we did. Like us, parents, teachers and entrants seemed very glad to be back to live performance. Entry numbers were generally the same as before although Schools Day numbers were a bit less than usual. We did however attract a new school entry from Bakewell.

Our adjudicators were Nigel and Nadia Hinson on the first Saturday and Sunday respectively with a return visit from Steven Roberts ( Chairman of the Federation ) the following weekend. This year planning and organising was made less stressful with the use of the rrunmyfestival program. A huge thank you to Kath for all her efforts – and not only in the festival organisation but also in the culinary area, the hot Sunday lunch was delicious. Thank you to Clare for printing the programmes, put together by Kath, in the more manageable A5 size, and also for printing the certificates. And as for the back-up team, the festival wouldn’t run without you. Thank you to all of you.

This year we invested in a card reader as more and more people are choosing to pay by card. It proved to be very useful and was welcomed as the alternative admission payment.

Interest and participation in the festival continues to be strong and we have been glad to hear that one parent would like to join us next year as a volunteer and another former festival participant has expressed an interest also.

The Prizewinners’ Concert was excellent with a good spread of performances, selected by the adjudicators, across the classes we offer. The Rotary Club of Worksop Dukeries has presented two monetary prizes for the last 20 years, for which we have been extremely grateful. Sadly this was the last time as the club closed at the end of June. It is hoped that the other Worksop Rotary Club might be persuaded to take on the two awards.

Adjudicators have been booked for 2023 and 2024, which ensures that the people we would like to invite are available and we can introduce different and younger adjudicators to Worksop Festival.

We have had to open a different bank account. We are now with NatWest. Setting it up was not exactly straightforward but it does mean that we now have online banking which is much easier for paying invoices. We have a cheque book that provides the means to pay prize money for each day’s best performance in the opinion of the adjudicator.

To sum up – we have had a successful festival after lockdown that has attracted a good level of entries and we look forward to 2023 with renewed interest and enthusiasm from the very loyal and supportive committee, and our entrants.
