## **WORKSOP MUSIC and DRAMA FESTIVAL** 

## **ANNUAL GENERAL and TRUSTEES MEETING (on Zoom) 22[nd] July 2021** 

This year has been totally different for the Festival.  There was no festival as such because of COVID 19.  We were lucky to squeeze in last year’s festival before Lockdown.  We considered the possibility of an online festival but decided it would be very difficult to organise. 

We wanted to keep interest in the Festival alive and give our participants an alternative way to perform.  The decision was made to have a recorded concert on YouTube, similar to the Prize Winners’ Concert.  Entry was free with the added incentive of monetary prizes – First prize of £50, Second prize of £30 and Third prize of £15, with £5 to each performer selected to perform. The closing date for entries and the concert were set allowing time for Kath to cope with the technicalities to produce an excellent online YouTube concert on June 6[th] . 

Of the 50 entries which surprised and pleased us, 20 performers were eventually selected. The difficult job of selection was undertaken by all the Committee spending considerable time choosing performances that would give an interesting variety across a wide age range. This year Drama entries were included.  There was an almost unanimous decision on the concert selection.  More difficult to decide were the prize winners.  Finally an overall first prize winner was agreed with 2 second prizes and 2 thirds.  We received several very favourable comments afterwards.  We owe Kath a huge vote of thanks for putting together such a very impressive concert.  Thanks also to everyone for giving their time to the selection process. 

We have held all our usual Committee meetings online – thanks to Clare for setting them up for us on Zoom. 

Plans are now in place for Festival 2022 which we intend to run, assuming there are no restricting setbacks.  We can be proud of having kept the Festival going, albeit online and so very different from anything any of us have experienced before.  We look forward to the future and being together again, continuing to work providing performance opportunities for chiefly young people to progress in The Arts.
