Thetrusteespresenttheirreportwiththefinancialstatementsofthecharityfortheyear ended
31March2025.ThetrusteeshaveadoptedtheprovisionsofAccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordancewith the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).

OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

ThecharityworksinconjunctionwithitsdeliverypartnerTheInternationalConcussionandHead Injury
Research Foundation Limited ("ICHIRF") to pursue its charitable objectives.

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Charitable activities

TheTrusteesoftheConcussionFoundationarecommittedtosupporttheresearchundertakenby ICHIRF,
regardless of what sport this involves, It is clear that more research is needed across the board on this topic

FINANCIAL REVIEW

Reserves policy

Thecharityintendstoutilisesurplusfundstocontinue,inconjunctionwithICHIRF,theresearch activities
referredtoabove.ThecharityismindfulthatduetotheCOVIDpandemic,fundraisingandincome has
stalled.However,the policyremainsto retainadequatereservesto coverany expenditureover income, until
the times improve.

FUTURE PLANS

TheTrusteesof theConcussionFoundationarecommittedtosupportingtheresearchundertakenby ICHIRF,
regardless of what sport this involves.
Withongoingsupportfromthe RacingFoundation,the ConcussionFoundationwill be ableto support ICHIRF
throughout2025and2026.Duringthisperiod,ICHIRFwillbeundertakinganumberofresearchprojects to
review the data accumulated over the last 10 years (2015-2025). This will include:
1.AnupdatedanalysisofthestoredbloodsamplesbyProfessorHenrikZetterbergatUniversity College
London (UCL),
2.Areviewofthevolunteerswhohavebeenscreenedtwiceduringthe10-yearperiodbyDr Bonnie-Kate
Dewar and Dr James Murray (with a gap of approximated 6 years between screening sessions) and
3.TheappointmentofapostdoctoralresearcheratUCLtoreviewalltheaccumulatedneuro-imaging (MRI)
data.Thispostwillbefor12months,startinginSeptember2025,andwillbesupervisedbyProfessor Mike
Loosemore MBE at UCL.
InNotwithstandingtheaboveReservesPolicy,therehasbeenanegativeimpactonfundraisingdueto the
pandemic.RefundsfromtheplannedfundraisingplanshavenowbeenreceivedandtheBoard remains
diligent in sourcing new funding streams.

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements

Thefinancialstatementsofthecharity,whichisapublicbenefitentityunderFRS102,have been
preparedinaccordancewiththeCharitiesSORP(FRS102)'AccountingandReportingby Charities:
StatementofRecommendedPracticeapplicabletocharitiespreparingtheiraccountsin accordance
withthe FinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the UK and Republicof Ireland(FRS102) (effective
1 January2019)',FinancialReportingStandard102'TheFinancialReportingStandardapplicablein the
UKandRepublicofIreland'andtheCharitiesAct2011.Thefinancialstatementshavebeen prepared
under the historical cost convention.

Income

All incomeis recognisedin the Statementof FinancialActivitiesonce the charityhas entitlementto the
funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

Expenditure

Liabilitiesarerecognisedasexpenditureassoonasthereisalegalorconstructive obligation
committingthecharitytothatexpenditure,itisprobablethatatransferofeconomicbenefitswill be
requiredinsettlementandtheamountoftheobligationcanbemeasuredreliably.Expenditure is
accountedforonanaccrualsbasisandhasbeenclassifiedunderheadingsthataggregateall cost
relatedtothecategory.Wherecostscannotbedirectlyattributedtoparticularheadingsthey have
been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
Grantsofferedsubjecttoconditionswhichhavenotbeenmetattheyearenddatearenotedas a
commitment but not accrued as expenditure.

Taxation

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

Fund accounting

Unrestrictedfundscanbeusedinaccordancewiththecharitableobjectivesatthediscretionof the
trustees.
Restrictedfundscanonlybeusedforparticularrestrictedpurposeswithintheobjectsofthe charity.
