For that reason, I do not seek to comment in detail on the year that has passed. Instead, I want to express my sincere thanks to those who have taken responslbllity for compiling thls report, and to all whose faithful service and ministry it represents. The content of these pages speaks clearly of a parish sustained by commitment, generoslty, and a shared sense of purpose. l am grateful to the churchwarden, PCC members, mlnlstry leaders, and volunteers who have ensured that the worship, misston, and practical life of the parish have contlnued with such care and dedication. Revd John Keeley Prlest In Char8e North Orrnesby: Holy Trlnlty PCC Chairpersons Report 2025 Theyear be8an wlth high hopes and expectation5 as ourvicar, Revd Bridget Woodall returned from leave. However. wewere soon informed of herretirement from active ministry. This led to herintentional efforts to prepare us for the forthcomin8 vacancy. Just before the vacancy, Revd Elalne was reassigned to the Par ish of St Francis of Assisi in Ingleby Barwick. In September, Lee-Anne also began trainin8 for ordained ministry. While we were happy forthem both, their transitions left us with a degree of uncertainty. As if that were not enough, the church building was declared unsafe for use following subsidence in its foundations and a significant crack in the wall. For this reason, we are now worshipping in the Trinity Centre Hall. I would like to give thanks to God for everyone who contributed toward the remedial work on the main church buildin8. It is evident that your prayers and support have made a significant impact. Several surveys were carried out to determine the cause of the subsidence that resulted In the crack In the wall. For further details and updates on the building, please refer to the Flnance Report and the Vicarfs Report. Dauntin8 as thls period was, it has also been encouragin8 to work alongside indlviduals and the wider congregation to sustain their passion and commitment lo God throughout the vacancy- particularly as we adapted to an alternative place of worship. We cannot be more 8rateful to God for the gifts of a remarkable PCC, whose leadership has been impactful, and for a God-loving con8re8ation who supported us through effectlve collaboratlon and prayer, Many members of the con8re8atlon took on additional responsibilities, Includlng chooslng music, preparln8 PowerPoint presentations, compilin8 notlces, settlng up the altar, offerin8 Intercessions, and reading le550ns. Others supported chlldren's and youth work durin8 Sunday servlces, prepared materials, recruited asslstants, set up the hall. organised refreshments, and arranged seatlng. After servlces, teams ensured everything was cleared, includin8 washing up, storing chairs and tables, and tldyln8the children's area. Durln8 the same period, Andrea Jenkinson, Elaine Nlchol, and Chlchl Dagogo Wariso completed their Mustard Seed Stepping Up programme. They were duly commissioned to embark on thelr respectlve mln15tries durln8 a speclal celebration servlce. Worthy of note is the support we received frorn Revd Canon Graham Potter, Archdeacon Amanda, the Blshop of Whitby, Rt Revd Barry Hlll, and the Most Revd Dr Stephen Cottrell for their leadershlp and spiritual oversi8ht. l also feel a stron8 sense of duty to appreclate our slster parishes, the lotal council, and the entlre Mlddle5brou8h community for thelr concern and contributions following the closure of our church buildin8. As a PCC, we resolved that it is better to try and rlsk fallure than to regret never tryln8 at all. Thls became the mlndset with whlch we approached both our strateglc plan and missional efforts during key season5 such as the Annual Remembrance Service, Harvest, and Advent. We Introduced new inltlatlves and Intentlonally engaged in missional pro8rammes aimed at promotin8 communal cohesion. supporting those on the mar8ins, and advocating for the vulnerable. DurSn8 the vacancy, we also inltiated a Blble study 8roup whlch has been flourishing. We hope that everyone will find it a valuable space for contlnued dlsclpleship and spiritual nourishment. Holy Trlnlty North Orrnesby (Durlng Vacancy) Safeguarding Report The PCC recognises Its responsibility to promote a safe environment and culture within the life of the church. Safeguardin8 remains a high priority in all aspects of our ministry and activities. Our parish ha5 adopted and continues to implement the safeguardlng pollcies and procedures of the Church of England. These are reviewed regularly to ensure compliance with current guidance and best prattice. I was elected Parish Safeguarding Officer this year, due to the retirement of the previous PSO. I have completed all training and hold an advanced DBS. I have completed the Leadership Pathway for Safeguarding. There has been one safeguarding incident over the year, this has been dealt with, sUPPOrted by the Diocese. The church has two safe8uardin8 plans for people in place, which are reviewed annually or sooner if required. Most PCC members hold a current DBS, and those who do not are awaitin8 the return of checks from Thirtyone:eight system. With re8ards to safe8uardln8 trainin& most of the PCC member5 have completed the basic and foundation stages. Those outstanding have been addressed. Volunteers In church hold a DBS for relevant roles and responslbllltles, and others have been safely recruited. Holy Trinity Is exceedin8 in provldln8 a safe and welcomin8 environment for all. Andrea Jenklnson Parlsh Safe8uardln8 Officer Churchwarden Report It is that time of the year when we reflect on the overall life of our church, and I'm glad to say it'5 been a good and lovely year for us as a church despite a few challen8es. It is a thing of joy to see us meeting week by week as a churth, and It's been really encouraglng to See people regularly. along with a few new faces over the year. Easter and Christmas have always been a special time for us, and all activities have been held adequately. Of course. we know that none of thls happens by Itself, because Churches don't run automatically but rather by people. This is me sayin8 a very bi8thank you to everyone who has played any role, from leadin8 of the services, blble readln& prayers, playing of instrumentslmusic, welcome at the door, media, tea making, decorating with flowers, taklng care of the children and youn8 adults. arranging of chairs and all other jobs that often 80 unnoticed. You know who you are and l am convinced that God sees all this and will reward us accordingly. Looking after one another contlnues to be such an Important part of our church life. Many of you quletly support others, through vlslts, phone calls, prayers, or lust belngthere when It's needed, It may not always be vislble, but as a church, It reflects the klnd of Ilfe our savlour Jesus Chrlst wants L15 to lead. Vlctor Alleh helped to ploneer the leadershlp of the church wlth the keen asslstance of Marlon, Blesslng and many others. Your Involvement and contributions made the absence of a vicar less noticeable durln8 thls vacancy time. Financiallyi things are a bit of a balanclng art, but we're mana8in8 carefully and expecting to do better. Special thanks to everyone who gives and supports financially through offerln8s and otherwlse, thls truly keeps things going. Also, safe8uardinB remains somethln8 we take serlously, and we contlnue to follow all the guldance to make sure the church Is a safe place for everyone who comes to our church and trlnlty centre at lar8e. Ifeanyl E8wlm Churchwarden Buildlngs and Fabrlc Report Our church buildings remain a valuable resource for our ministry, while also presenting ongoing challenges in maintenance and repair. Subsidence- Moin Worship Area During 2025. significant structural concerns arose followin8 the appearance of a large crack in the north- east wall of the main worship area, Indicating subsidence. On the advice of the architect. the PCC agreed at its meeting on 17th February 2025 to undertake ground stabilisation works. These were carried out on 1st and 2nd September 2025 by Resin Injection Technology {RITI using resin injection methods. Unfortunately, this work was not successful. Further professional advice has recommended underpinnin8 as the most approprlate lon8-term solution. Thls will involve substantial work. The PCC Is working closely with the architect, structural en8ineer, the Diocesan Advisory Committee IDAC), and potent5al contractors to pro8ress thls project as soon as posslble. Due to the extent of the subsidence, a risk assessment determined that the main worshlp area should not be used until remedial works are completed. Thls continues to have a significant impact on the life of the church. Quinquennial Report The qulnquennlal Inspection was carrled out on 29th May 2025 byjohn A. Barne5 ofJABA Archltect Ltd. The report Identilied a number of items requiring attention within Set timescales. Some works have already been completed, and the PCC Is continuln8 to address the remalnlng Items In line wlth the recommended schedule. Current Position Despite these challenges, the church continues Its regular worshlp and activlties. The Trlnity Centre has enabled services to continue, although weekly set-up and take-down present practical dlffi'culties. The PCC remains committed to resolving the structural Issues and Is hopeful that the necessary underpinnin8 works will be completed during 2026. The PCC reports that the church buildin& its good5 and ornaments have been malntalned in 8ood and serviceable condition durin8 the year. Rout6ne malntenance and any necessary repairs have been carried out, with due re8ard to the Quinquennial Inspection. The inventory has been revlewed ar•d1s UP to date. The PCC is grateful to all who contrlbute to the care and upkeep of the church and its contents. There is a farnily 5ervlce on the fourth Sunday led by a Community Minister, who is also a member ofthe parish. There is a team of dedicated parishioners who run the Children's Church each week. The team all hold DBS. In 2025 after successful completlon of my Mustard Seed course, as a Community Minister I have taken the lead with Chlldren's Church, supported by a grant from Mustard Seed. I take responsibility for planning and resourcing activitles for the chlldren in church, managing volunteer support and working closely wlth chlldren's services in the communlty, includln8 Trlnlty Youth and Chlldren's Project. The number of chlldren attendin8 flurtuates from week to week, dependlng on famllies beSn8 able to attend the church,. there is a small core of re8ular attendees. Fundraising has been supported greatly by an outslde or8anlsation who have developed our funder base and are now mana8ln8 our reports and bids for future fundin8. Please do see the whole report for the children and youth work. Pastoral Care This year It has been 8reat to see families begin more stable lives and careers, sometimes in other areas. They are keeplng in touch, findin8 new churches and communities, and are appreclatln8 our conslstent care and frlendshlp. People continue to stru88le financially and wlth isolatlon. The church has worked to support with care, provision and signposting to 5ervice5 more specialised. It has been p055ible to identify needs and support required through vi5itin8 and 8ettin8 to know our community. Clothes, Includlng shoes, coats and homeware have been distributed after the Sunday church servlce. l am always blessed to see God's provision for all of us. We have been maklng links with people thls year through the CIoi5ter café and the Chrlstmas market service. My prayer is that all these interactions will show God's love to our community. Homelessness is still a significant issue in our area which requires our prayers and support. We have provided support and helped with accessing other services for the homeless this winter. The vacancy has provided the PCC wlth the opportunity to show how they work together and support each other. Jane Holllday Pastoral Care io 3 W's - Warm Welcomlng Wednesdays The 3W's group is a friendly and relaxing place for adult members of our community, who require a social space. to 8et out and meet friends over a 8ame of dominoes. cards and various crafts. We are a small group with lots of laughter. We provide free refreshments, often including tasty cakes and biscuits. The 3W's meet every Wednesday except the I Wednesday of the month. Richard & Trary Hurd Community Mlnlsters Communlty Café The café has seen a lot of chan8es thls year, as it Is no lon8er 8alnln8 fundln8 for TYCP, but all the proflts now 80 to into the church fund. With myself overseeing the café. we have wldened the range of food and drlnk that is being offered. Our lon8-Standlngvolunteers have beenjolned bynew ones, who say It helpsthem to 8et out ofthe house and meet with others. This is reflected in the feelin8s of the customerslfriends that come to Visit the café. The North Ormesby Hlstory group have been meetln8 each week to 8et together and share thelrcommon Interests; they are also helping to raise funds to repair the church wall. Representatives from Middlesbrough Football Club Foundatlon supported the café and raised money for the church, they are valued In our communlty. The café provides a place for people to meet, make new friends and get to know each other. Through the café we have also been able to make connections with market stall holders and market users. The Cloister café Is a warm and friendly place for the communlty and contlnues to be a valuable part of North Ormesbv. Tracy Hurd Communlty Mlnlster Communlty Garden The Community Garden Is now well establlshed. Our small group of volunteers worked hard through the week and as a 8roup on Monday mornin8s. It is a wonderful space to mentally relax and see God's provlslon. There were some lovely frults and ve8etables produced this year, that were not only used for the community but our children's Broups. Our prayer is that the communlty garden will continue to galn strength and 5UPPOrt.
