Trustees Report for Year Ending 2025

The Church trustees are in effect the Church committee. Again we have been working full out to keep the church open, clean and in good repair. We are still lamenting the lack of committee members and dedicated volunteers to keep the doors open for services and mediumship demonstrations, let alone workshops and special fundraising dems. I’m pleased to announce that Healing has resumed and Richard is still training healers from Brotherhood gate.

Unfortunately, Luis has decided not to stand for re-election this year, but he will remain as a volunteer. Luis has been very instrumental in trying to encourage new members into the church. He and Jane along with Chris Gammon have continued providing tea and biscuits after the Monday service and this has been very popular. Lius has also made some very good suggestions for moving the church forward and we are sorry to lose him hopefully only for the time being. Zoe Edgerton has agreed to join the committee. She is a member of the Friday development circle and has really committed herself to working for Spirit and if elected we will be very happy to work with her in the coming year.

Healing has resumed and Richard is training healers from Brotherhood gate. There have been a couple of members of the Friday circle who have shown an interest in joining the healing training.

As for Sunday services, I am afraid that Michelle has been very unwell this year. It lovely to see her here today. Richard has been chairing on a Sunday in her place and is doing a sterling job. Jane Lang after two hip operations is back on a Sunday and Monday. Jane Forlyne has also been helping on a Sunday whenever she can, although jane too has had her share of injuries this year. Basil has been playing the piano and lately the organ for Sunday services and really raises the energy as does Chris Gammon who steps in on Sundays when basil away. Chris also helps on a Monday and with Luis and jane provide teas and biscuits for the congregation. This has been very popular, and many friendships have been made over a cuppa. Jackie has a Friday zoom awareness group on Fridays, and has participants from around the world. Jackie also takes a mediumship practice group on alternate Tuesday evenings. Wednesday demonstrations of mediumship are very popular. We have new people every week. Saturday sittings are also well attended. Jane Musgrove helps me organise the readings. The Tuesday trance group is going from strength to strength under the guidance of Stephen Tickle. The philosophy coming out of the trance mediums is wonderful and the physical phenomena is increasing week on week. This is a closed circle. The Friday development group is still encouraging new mediums to develop their gifts and to move forward on their spiritual path. We have an open platform on Friday 24 april at 7,30. Entry is free so if you can do come along and encourage them on their pathway and see tomorrow’s mediums today.

I spoke about the renovations in my Treasurer’s report earlier. I don’t think there is anything else we need to do to the church except and this is not going to happen in my lifetime I’m sure. The exterior of the church will at some time in the future need repointing and cleaning. Perhaps we need to look at setting up a group of members who will raise funds specifically for this. That can be open for discussion later in this meeting perhaps.

As I mentioned in my Treasurer’s report, we have completed the outside space and please go and have a look. I hope that in the summer months it will be used and enjoyed by all. At least the committee members no longer have to cut back the ivy and buddleia and weed the paths.

Your trustees have extended the anti- climb paint around the edges of the church roof. It has proved quite effective as the few guys who climbed up got their hands very mucky. The boy’s club has re-opened and we have had a few incidents but the people running the club are very helpful and try to do what they can to mitigate the problems. Our gate which was damaged by the lorry last year has been an ongoing saga. We finally received a payment from their insurers which has allowed us to order a new electric sliding gate. Unforunately, by the time the insurance finalised the payment, our blacksmith had an operation on his shoulder just before Christmas. He is very much on the mend now and by the end of April, we will have a new electric sliding gate. The side gate however is now functional, and we have been very happy to welcome our wheelchair users on a regular basis. The lift has been weight tested again and we do not now have any worries when it is used by a motorised wheelchair.

Later this year we are having a spirit September. The Friday development group will take place on a Thursday and We will have a demonstration of mediumship on Fridays with a well- known medium and a workshop on the Saturday. Jacqui Palmer a member of the Friday group was instrumental in suggesting Spirit September to try to bring more people into the church and raise our profile in the area. Thanks to Jackie for her time and energy she has put into this.
