Trustees have commissioned further interviews making efforts to ensure
greater diversity of subject matter in order to widen our appeal and reflect

publication of industry-themed features to engage academics, industry
alumni and the general public. They have continued to improve our public

order to encourage wider use of the archive by students and researchers.| ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** **TAR** March **2012** 3 You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. ## Section D Achievements and performance **TAR** March **2012** 4 Section D Achievements and erformance p In its eighth year of operation the charity has: **Summary of the main achievements of the charity** Expanded our section on education with the development of resources **during the year** including lesson and other activity plans for Primary School children to help teachers deliver the requirements of the National Curriculum Key Stages 1 and 2 in a manner that engages children in Information Technology as an enjoyable and creative subject. We have also created material to educate children in matters of Internet Safety and Well Being and to help them understand careers opportunities. The Trustees are grateful for the financial support of Geoff Squire OBE and Sir Robin Saxby in these areas, in the current and previous financial years. Recorded 30 further interviews with Achievers, had them transcribed and collected additional archive materials from each person where available. While reducing the volume of interviews a new PR Manager has increased our focus on communicating the stories told by the interviews to better engage with and deliver benefit to our target audiences. This is reflected in the publication of features on key topics, from the early days of computing to the modern history of Tech. This focus on key topics is also reflected in our monthly newsletters, increased social media activity and increased use of short videos on You Tube. We have continued to develop academic links with schools and universities, including undertaking academic studies in conjunction with undergraduate and postdoctoral resources. In particular we undertook a study of how the way in which people work with computers (Human Computer Interaction – HCI) has developed over 75 years, which will enable a new exhibition on our website. We are grateful to the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists Charity for their support to that work. We have organised an event to engage with academia and industry in a Forum Meeting to be held in the first half of the next reporting year, again with the generous help of the WCIT. We have recruited a new, specialist Archivist, who has led an overhaul of indexing of our website and has extended our reach to be included in a range of archive hubs. Our Archivist is working with our volunteer Chief Information Technology Officer to upgrade our data management processes to best practice archive resilience.
