YYY Foundation Accounts for the Year Ended 30 September 2025 Trustees, Report The charitws purpose is to relieve poverty and promote education in Nepal. In the five years prior to the Covid pandemic, the chartty focused largely on rebuilding schools destroyed by the earthquakes in April 2015. Since then, the Trustees have refined the focus of the charit¢s work to four key areas: provision of finance for selected infrastructure projects at schools, which could add significant value but could not realistically be funded locally,. provision of stationery and other essential materials to the various schools which the charity has helped in the past. provision of Women's Health education for schools and associated communlties, workin8 in partnership with the international charity Days 4 Girls- and provision of computer rooms and associated equipment for secondary schools, working in partnership with another specialist charity, Edutech Nepal I'Edutech'l. The charity has developed close relationships with its two key partner charities: Days 4 Girls is an international NGO advancing menstrual equFty, health. dignity and opportunity for all girls and women. The charitrfs programmes, delivered by its local representatives, are genuinely life-changing for girls (many of whom would otherwise be effectively excluded from school once they start menstruating) and for their wider families and communities. YYY Foundation asslsts in identifying suitable schools for the provision of programmes and providing fundin8,' and Edutech, a long-standing NGO in Nepal. which provides excellent computer rooms to schools across the country. Under the leadership of New Zealand tech entrepreneur Mike Chisholm. Edutech has refined the process of school selection and the design of computer rooms and their contents. and has to date established computer rooms at more than 200 Nepalese schools, all to Edutech's design and specification. Foundation entered into a non-legally binding Memorandum of Understanding with Edutech during 2022, with a view to identifying suitable schools and co-funding computer rooms. Duringthis year, Edutech decided to focuson areas of Nepal more familiarto them. so we are no longer formally identifying schools on their behalf. However, we may still co-fund computer rooms with them and are working with Edutech to provide Women's Health education to schools with whom they are already working and where they have previously provided computer and IT facilities.
Following a year in which we had invested considerable time and money into two Trustee trips to Nepal, there wa5 no Trustee visit to the country this year. Further to our work last year, there were two areas where our work would be focused thi5 year: In Bardiya, computer rooms were constructed and completed at Jagadamba school and Shiva Sundar school working with Edutech. The funding o*this work was accrued in last yearfs accounts- In Mugu, Women's health training has been delivered to the main school In Mugu's capital. Gumghadi and at Soru School. Subsequently. Edutech have visited and reported on both schools, with a view to providing computer rooms. but these have not yet been built. We have committed funds for this work. The remoteness of the area makes the work challenging, and Edutech are waiting until they are comfortable that the work is feasible and that the schools are fully co-operating as required. We hope that this work will be completed during the current financial year. It is unlikelv that Edutech will look to provide computer facilitie5 to more schools in this area. The Trustees have continued their fundraising activities this year, generating total income of £8,658. The majortty of these funds were raised at a fundraising dinner, which generated more than £7,000. As ever, the Trustees would like to extend their thanks to all those who have generously donated funds to the charity this year. The Trustees are planning further fundraising efforts in 2026. A major project for the charity this year was the development and establishment of a new website- our previous website was old and lacked functionality. We were fortunate to have considerable time and skills of Trustee Helen Keen applied in doing much of this work, so that the cost to the charity of the new website was a very modest £568, with the new website launched in November 2024. Apartfrom this cost, and the catering cost of our main fundraising dinner in the year l£1.6111, our operating costs were as eververy modest at £235. The charity remained in a robust financial position at the year end, with funds of just over £19.600 in the bank as at 30 September 2025. The Trustees consider that the ideal minimum level of free reserves as at 30 September 2025 is £2,000. Free reserves held at the year-end were £19,600. In prattice, the Trustees endeavour to keep at least £10,000 of uncommitted cash available, so that they can be in a position to commit to project expenditures knowing that the necessary funds are in place; on this basis at the year end YYY Foundation had reserves available for projetts of £9,600, most of which 15 earmarked for the planned spend on computer rooms at the two Mugu schools. YY Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation regulated by the Charity Commission. The Trustees can confim that they do not receive any remuneration for their services to the charity or expenses for arting as trustees.
