# **Noah Initiative: Providing youth with the skills and knowledge to battle life’s storms**

**Director’s Summary**

2021 has been a year of gradually getting back to what we love most, now that most of the Covid 19 Pandemic measures have been lifted. The Noah Initiative currently supports 48 young people and 46 adults through both our youth empowerment and community development programs. The Kenyan school year is still being compressed to try and catch up on lost time due to the pandemic and we are actively supporting our students through that. As well as our enrolled students we are also taking our message of hope into schools and institutions, broadening our beneficiary base.

Fundraising has been an uphill struggle during the pandemic and the subsequent cost of living crisis. Inflation coupled with Kenyan elections have made times very hard for most Kenyans, and many in Britain are also facing financial challenges. To underpin future fundraising efforts we are now working with a specialist fundraising agency.

My sincere thanks to all who have continued to support us during these challenging times.

## **Elliot Berry The Noah Initiative Director**

## **Trustees’ Summary**

As trustees we have a duty to act within The Noah Initiative’s interest of providing grants to promote education and help eradicate poverty. We are happy to report that this has continued throughout 2021.

We have close oversight of The Noah Initiative’s and Noah Society’s activities and finances and can report that they are in good order and managed in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations. We have regular contact with the management of The Noah Initiative and with the management and Board of The Noah Society, our main beneficiary. Safe guarding policies are in place and are regularly reviewed.

The work in Eldoret is transformational for those supported by the programme. The last two years have been very challenging due to the pandemic, but we are proud of the work done by the great team on the ground in adapting to find ways to support the boys, their families and their communities. Whilst the main focus remains on the young people supported by the programme, many others in the community have been helped and supported through these difficult times.

We remain extremely grateful to all existing and new donors, supporters and governmental agencies for enabling this truly life-changing work to continue. Thank you for partnering with us.
