Noah Initiative: Providing youth with the skills and knowledge to battle life’s storms
Director’s Summary
This year has been ‘unprecedented’ for us, as it has been for everyone else. We have had to change and adapt the way in which we work. We took on 5 new students at the beginning of 2020 however, schools in Kenya were closed from March for the rest of our financial year. We were still able to encourage the students and other beneficiaries in home-based learning and we heard good reports from their teachers when schools re-opened.
One major outreach we were able to hold before the pandemic was our annual ‘Praise Party.’ This is a platform for young people to show and use their gifts in front of a crowd of up to five thousand. It is a community event, organised in collaboration with political, business and community leaders to empower young people.
We have also reached out to our community in new ways, whilst operating within our charity’s objectives. We have provided support to some of the poorest in our community with food distribution and the supply of other essential supplies such as female hygiene products, helping those worst affected by the pandemic.
3
Although we have been significantly affected by several event cancellations and postponement of fund-raising activities, we have managed to cope well under the financial strain. As a result we have learned some useful lessons about future fundraising strategy which will help the charity become more resilient in the future.
Be Blessed!
Elliot Berry The Noah Initiative Director
Trustees’ Summary
As trustees we have a duty to act within The Noah Initiative’s interest of providing grants to promote education and help eradicate poverty. We are happy to report that this has continued throughout 2019/20.
We have close oversight of The Noah Initiative’s and Noah Society’s activities and finances and can report that they are in good order and managed in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations. We have regular contact with the management of The Noah Initiative and with the management and Board of The Noah Society, our main beneficiary. Safe guarding policies are in place and are regularly reviewed.
The work in Eldoret is transformational for those supported by the programme. During the last year, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, we are proud of the work done by the great team on the ground. Whilst the main focus

remains on the young people supported by the programme, many others in the community have been helped and supported through these difficult times.
More than ever, during the enormous challenges of the last year, we are extremely grateful to all existing and new donors, supporters and governmental agencies for enabling this truly life-changing work to continue.
