Activities
CCT exists to develop a Community Hub in the Carnegie Library building at Herne Hill, south London, which is a beautiful historic building and a well-loved local landmark. With Lambeth Council support the Trust is working to repurpose the building as a sustainable, multi-use resource for all residents, centred on lifelong learning, arts & entertainment as well as general health & wellbeing.
Objects: (1) To Promote The Benefit Of The Inhabitants Of The Area Of Benefit Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Age, Disability, Nationality, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Other Opinions, By Associating Together The Said Inhabitants And The Statutory Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure-Time Occupation With The Object Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For The Said Inhabitants;(2) To Establish, Or Secure The Establishment Of, A Community Hub And To Maintain And Manage The Same (Whether Alone Or In Co-Operation With Any Statutory Authority Or Other Person Or Body) In Furtherance Of The Objects;(3) To Preserve And Conserve For The Benefit Of The People Of Herne Hill And The Nation At Large The Historical, Architectural And Constructional Heritage Of The Carnegie Library Building In Lambeth And To Advance The Education Of The Public In The Said Heritage.(4) To Promote Such Other Charitable Purposes As May From Time To Time Be Determined.the CIO Shall Be Non-Party In Politics And Non-Sectarian In Religion. The Area Of Benefit(?area Of Benefit?) Shall Be The District Of Herne Hill In London Postcodes Se24 And Se5, Along With Adjoining Neighbourhoods.
