Lord Street West United Church is a charitable unincorporated association. Lord Street West United Church is a Local Ecumenical Partnership of the Methodist Church and the United Refonned Church. The charity is administered by a body of trustees consisting of.. a) Ex officio Trustees. beiThJ the ministers of the Local Ecumenical Partnership for the time being b) Thirsty six Elected trustees are elected at the Annual Congregational Meeting,. and ¢) Not more than six ¢tropted Trustees appointed by the Trustees OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES The purpose of the chanty is to advance the Christian faith in accordance with the principles and practices of the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church. The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit and, in particular. the specific guidance on charilies for the advancement of religion. In achieving its purpose, the charity engages in a range of activities induding.- al The celebration of public Y￿rShIP., b) The teaching of the Christian faith.. c} Mission and evangelism", dl Pastoral work, including visiting the sick and t)ereaved-, e) The provision of facilities wtth a Christian ethos for the local community. including th8 elderly, the young and other groups with special needs- and Q The support of other charities in the UK and overseas. ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE During the year ended 31 December 2024, Lord Street West United Church celebrated public worship every Sunday at 10.45 except on four Sundays when y￿ had joint services with the other churches in the Southport and Fomiby Team Ministry and on one Sunday when had a joint Servi￿ with the other churches in the Southport Methodist Circuit. Worship is led by our ministers and by ministers and preachers from the Methodisl and United Refomied Churches. The music in our worship is enhanced by our choir and organist. JAM Club (Jesus and Me) for children took place at the same lime as the morning service. On Wednesday mornings there was coffee and fellowship at 10.30am followed by a service from 11.15am to 11.45am. Messy Church, for families. was held on some Saturdays during the year. Pastoral care is provided by the minister, outreach and pastoral worker and pastoral visitors. Each member has a pastoral visitor, Covordinated by our pastoral secretary. Our Outreach and Pastoral Worker also takes Extended Communion to those who cannot attend church and organises Messy Church. Little Fishes, Baby Boogies and Matewalchers. The work of the church was also carr￿1 out through the followng church organisations.. Monday Fellowship Parent and Toddler Group known a$ Little Fishes Baby Boogies Malewatchers West End Players Youth Club FINANCIAL REVIEW During the year ended 31 December 2024, on the unrestricted funds, payments exceeded receipts by £33,798. The largest item of payments are the assessments and contributions paid to the Methodist Church and the United Refomied Church, which pay for the costs of ministry and the wider work of the two denominalions. The unrestricted funds had balan￿S of £343,274 at 31 December 2024, comprising General Fund of £50,000, Legacy Fund of £199.814 and Sunter Fund of £93,460. The Sunter Fund has been de$unated to pay for the Lay Worker. The reslricted funds of £7,980 comprised the Be￿Volent Fund of £366. Roof Fund of £6,351, Fridge Fund of £400 and the unspent balance of a grant received for the youth club of £863. The ohurch organisations had opening balances of £6,962, receipts of £4,686. payments of £2,843, contributs'ons to the churth of £2.1(Xl and closing balances of £6,705. RESERVES POLICY A minimum of £50,000 of unrestticted funds is held to cover six months. assessments. contributions and running costs.
