Objectives and a¢tlvlties
The charity's object5 are the provision of safe and supported accomrnodation to women and children experiencing
domestic Violen￿ and abuse. The policies adopted In furtheranc& of these objects are the charities articles and
there has been no change in these during the year.

charty should undertake.

Hull Women's Network is run by women for women and aim5 to offer safe and supported accornrnodation to women
and chihyren eXPerien￿rng dornesb'c Violen￿ and abuse.
Despite the challenging matto*conofflic climate the organisation has continued to develop its servi(￿5 to respond
to In¢￿ased demand and n8ed in the Surrounding community. The organisation owns a portfolio of 110 dispers8d
properties and works c10381y with women and Children aff8Cted by domestic violence an¢ atiuse evèry year,
enabling them to cope with crisis and develop themselves positively.
Below is a synopsis of our key selv1￿$ which hav8 been delivered this year and contributed to achiewing our
charitable objectives..
Safe dlspersed aecommodation
Hull Women's Ne￿ork has successfully overseen a disp8rsed accommodation service Sin￿ 2008 All the
properties In the portfolio ar& consistently tenanted demonstrating the 51gnifi.cant need for our Servi￿ provision We
have worked successfully In partnership with the lo￿1 authority and other local organisations to 8n5ure that each
property also benefits from target hardening rn8asures and 5$ equipped with lifeline alarrns as ne￿$Sary to each
t&nant.
Figure5 based on Home offi￿ data. Cabinet offi￿ and other Government Department public8tions and research
demonstrate that for each £1 Inv8Sted in prevention of domestic violence ènd abus8. 8 return of £7.12 ¢an be
achieved.
Volunteers
The work of all the volunte8r5 Within the company is greatly valued. Not only do our volunteers give of their time and
energy lo support the organisation, they contribute aetively to shaping our 5ervi¢es and co-producing services.
Local women support local worn8n to re¢over from crises and r8build their lives through the activities and services
the tsntr8 provides.

The trustees have established 8 reserves policy whereby they wsh to see the unrestricted fvnd5 not committed or
invested In tangible fixed assets I'lhe free reserves'l held by the Charty to b8 8t a level to ensure the continuity of
the ch8rity and this equates to approximately £30,000 in general funds. At this ￿Ve1 th8 trustees feel that they
would be able to continue current activities of the company in the event of any signilic8nt drop In funding.
Vve believe that the Charity's funds should be applied to delivenng the charity's objectives and therefore do not
aspire to hold more than this amount in reserves Un￿$S planning foi a specific purpose.
Additional reserves may be applied to reducing our loan cornmitrnents as and when the Trustees deem prudent.

children fleeing domestic abuse

to our tenants, properhes in a way that Is comfortable an¢J provides opportunitles for employrnent for tradeswomen

charity.

Financial instrurnents are recognised in the chaity's balance sheet when the charty bocomes party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
