## 1. General information 

- This year the school has 281 pupils (excluding 11+ classes) studying in 21 classes. The school have 31 teachers/teaching assistant and one caretaker. 

- The Safeguarding Policy is in place. DBS checks are carried out for employment or volunteers in line with statutory requirement. 

- RCS is a member of UK Association for Promoting Chinese Education. 

- All volunteers and trustees give their time voluntarily and received no-remuneration or other benefits. 

- RCS’ objects are to advance education for the public benefit in Chinese language and Chinese culture in the Borough of Reading and its neighbouring areas and beyond. 

- Our main source of funds has been from the school fees for study at RCS. We hold a small fund to help families who would otherwise struggle to pay the fees. 

- The main cost is the rent for classrooms, parents’ rest areas, teachers’ travel allowances, teachers’ training fees, textbooks, students’ awards etc. 

## 2. Teaching & learning 

- The school continues to implement all the policies & rules related to teaching & learning. 

- The school returned to face to face teaching as from September. Dr Liu thanked all parents for their cooperation and all PTA helpers for their help in managing the students during the beginning when we still had covid control. 

- Our staff attended 6 training sessions organised by the UKAPC, the School also organised 2 internal training sessions. 

- Some of our students took part the Overseas Chinese Essay Writing Competition and 15 students received an award including First Prize, Second Prize and Excellency Award. The School would like to thank Shanping Laoshi and Hongmin Laoshi for organising sessions to help the students. 

- 10 students sat for the IGCSE exam in November 2021, 4 obtained Grade 9, and 6 obtained Grade 8. The School thanked Liu Yongqin and Huang Qiuxiang Laoshi for their hard work. 

- The School organised a Chinese New Year event on 6 Feb 2022 of which many students took part in showcasing their performing skills 



- Shanping Laoshi and Fei Yiu Laoshi received the Excellent Teacher Award in November 2021, we would like to congratulate them again and thank them for their dedication to the School 

- Over last year, our students participated in various competitions including Calligraphy, Chinese Cultural, and recital. In the Recital competition, our students obtained very good results of 43 took part, 23 managed to enter the UK final, and 3 were chosen to enter the International Final. 

3. School Account 

- Financial report: The School account has been audited by a professional accountant and attached in this report. 

4. School Committee 

   - Wen Laoshi will step down from the School Committee at the end of the academic year and Dr ZHANG Ganggang will be the Deputy Head Teacher. 

Future: We will continuously improve our teaching  and management to make RCS specialisation, standardization and formalization to become the bestcomplementary school in the region.
