## GOVERNANCE

Perpetuo is a CIO registered with the Charities Commission (number 1163833) in England and Wales. The Charity was previously known as Ensemble Perpetuo and governed by the Constitution adopted on 16th September 2015 prior to registration as a CIO on 5th October 2015. As of 14th September 2019, a new Constitution was adopted and the charity changed its name to Perpetuo. The board of trustees administers the charity as well as overseeing the activities undertaken by Perpetuo. ## FOREWORD

This annual return is our sixth as a registered CIO and represents a period where the impact of the Covid pandemic was still very much affecting our charitable work. The opportunities for us to organise live performances were particularly scarce so our activity was much lower for a second year running. The main project we were able to undertake was through the Presteigne Festival running in August 2021.

We are grateful to those who helped us to plan for the future, where possible. We are also grateful to individuals and organisations who explored possible projects with us that might not have been able to bring to fruition just yet because of the uncertainty brought about by the pandemic.

## CHARITABLE OBJECTIVES

Perpetuo’s charitable objectives are:

To promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art of chamber music in all its aspects by the presentation of public concerts and recitals, workshops and development programmes and such other means as the trustees determine in order to make the music more accessible.

## BENEFIT TO THE PUBLIC

Perpetuo seeks to perform to audiences and at places that are not necessarily identified with music as well as linking music to the other art forms such as dance, sculpture, painting and photography. In addition, the Ensemble organises workshops and other educational events to benefit those who are unable to learn about and enjoy music including the young, the elderly and those with disabilities.

## OUR VISION

Perpetuo makes chamber music accessible, appealing and relevant. OUR MISSION

Perpetuo revitalises existing repertoire and commissions new chamber works to create innovative and adventurous programmes that engage with audiences.

This is how we achieve our mission:

- Use collaborations and multiple disciplinary partners to deliver a new kind of immersive cultural experience

- Through bringing chamber music to unexpected and unusual venues, Ensemble Perpetuo integrates music within local communities.

- We promote equality within music and break down the social and financial boundaries that prevent people from benefitting from live music.

## ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN FOR PUBLIC BENEFIT

As mentioned in the foreword, this period was greatly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic and so our ability to perform live events was substantially affected. During this period of reporting, Perpetuo were involved in two recitals as part of the Presteigne Festival in August 2022. These were socially distanced events which were also accessible as a digital performance for a short period of time through the Presteigne Festival website.

## RESERVES

During the period of our sixth annual return we maintained our reserves at the level they were previously but were unable to add to them. We continue to explore different ways in which to gain greater stability through individual donations so that we are well placed to take on more performance projects within our charitable remit as the situation with the pandemic eases.
