PERPETUO
REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER: 1163833
GOVERNANCE
Perpetuo is a CIO registered with the Charities Commission (number 1163833) in England and Wales. The Charity was previously known as Ensemble Perpetuo and governed by the Constitution adopted on 16th September 2015 prior to registration as a CIO on 5th October 2015. As of 14th September 2019, a new Constitution was adopted and the charity changed its name to Perpetuo. The board of trustees administers the charity as well as overseeing the activities undertaken by Perpetuo. Trustee vacancies are advertised through our website and trustees are selected based on the skills required to create a diverse team. Our aim is to recruit more board members in the coming period to enable the charity to grow and enhance its ability to deliver its charitable aims.

FOREWORD
faced huge challenges due to the unfolding pandemic. The opportunities for us to organise live performances were particularly scarce so our activity was lower than previous years. We did work on plans for future projects to be ready once the Covid 19 outbreak allowed for more certainty. We also undertook a recording of chamber music by the composer Benjamin Rimmer which is due to be released by Decca in 2022.
We are grateful to those who helped us to plan for the future, where possible. We are also grateful to those individuals who donated to our charity and to the foundations and trusts whose support has helped us deliver our activities undertaken for public benefit prior to this year.

CHARITABLE OBJECTIVES
Perpetuo’s charitable objectives are:
To promote, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of the art of chamber music in all its aspects by the presentation of public concerts and recitals, workshops and development programmes and such other means as the trustees determine in order to make the music more accessible.
BENEFIT TO THE PUBLIC
Perpetuo seeks to perform to audiences and at places that are not necessarily identified with music as well as linking music to the other art forms such as dance, sculpture, painting and photography. In addition, the Ensemble organises workshops and other educational events to benefit those who are unable to learn about and enjoy music including the young, the elderly and those with disabilities.
OUR VISION
Perpetuo makes chamber music accessible, appealing and relevant. OUR MISSION
Perpetuo revitalises existing repertoire and commissions new chamber works to create innovative and adventurous programmes that engage with audiences.
This is how we achieve our mission:
-
Use collaborations and multiple disciplinary partners to deliver a new kind of immersive cultural experience
-
Through bringing chamber music to unexpected and unusual venues, Ensemble Perpetuo integrates music within local communities.
-
We promote equality within music and break down the social and financial boundaries that prevent people from benefitting from live music.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN FOR PUBLIC BENEFIT
As mentioned in the foreword, this period was greatly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic and so our ability to perform live events was substantially affected. During the lockdowns, recording projects were possible and so we were particularly pleased to record chamber music by Benjamin Rimmer at Henry Wood Hall in late 2020 for a recording that is due for release in 2022.

RESERVES
During the period of our fifth annual return we maintained our reserves at the level they were previously but were unable to add to them. We have been exploring ways in which to gain greater stability through individual donations so that we are well placed to take on more performance projects within our charitable remit as the situation with the pandemic eases.
