CULLOMPTON ARTS HOUSE TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT. 2023- 2024 This year artwtties have picked up slightly after a period of inaction12019- 20231 because of the Covid Pandemic and its effects on community actwites. The Management Committee continues to remain small wsth Tro formal designated roles. This Is despite Jo contacting Involve for us in the hope of ctropting some new members or assoclètes. Therefore, the group at present IS: l. Graham Sessions- He is our Acting Treasurer and manages our bank accounts as well as being our representative with CreatNe Cullompton, Iwtth whom we have access to extra fundin8 to support a variety of community creatlve projertsl. Graham has recently èpplied for further Brant assistance. from the Countil, to support our efforts. 2. JoTurner -our p05tal address remains wlth Jo and she manages several secretarlal dutles/ requirements and hosts many of our meetin85. 3. Annie fildesley- She has stepped down as Mlnute Secretary. but She continues as Trustee and actlve member. 4. Helen Mccormick has joined us durlng this period and has been co-opted onto the Commlttee. She wlll also become a Trustee. She has taken over from Anftie Tlldesley as Minute Secretary and Is our Actln8 Publlcity Offer. We are really delighted to welcome her on board. 5. Charlotte Wakefleld has retired as a Trustee, because of work commltments, but Is still active wlth U5 and comes to meetin8s when She can. For our exhibltion for 2023- 2024 we have tried a new approach and have held an Open Studio event, where the artists have been regularly In attendance and demonstrating their work as well as showing It. Thls event ran from 18 November 2023- Frlday 24 November. There was a Private View on Frlday 17" at whlch there were some 50 invited guests. Thls was a great event. We attracted some new members for thls event and Sam Summerfield, Owen Williams. Nikki Woollatt. Charline Marzin and Annette Wadsworth have become realty actively invofved.. The studio event was a bi8 success and the footfall realty good. We plan to use the same format again. We had a Christmas Get- Together at the Bake1USe in December and are currently planning events, including the Summer Festfval and an Open Studio for this year.
CAH Financial Report 2023-2024
As in the previous financial year, Cullompton Arts House was given the responsibility to manage the financing of the Performing Arts element of the Creative Cullompton funds allocated through a grant by Historic England. The purpose of this element of the grant was to enable the enhancement of Performing Arts and associated activities based in the town centre to benefit residents and visitors alike.
The activities that were supported included live music, theatrical performances and the purchase of certain items of capital equipment to support these events.
Live music supported included performances by Brooke Sharkey, Bluenote alchemy, Dick Graham, Bel Canto, The Wood Farm Quintet, Blackdown Acapella and the Wyndham Singers. The theatrical performances were provided by Sun & Moon theatre and Next Generation Theatre Company.
The capital equipment purchases included some addition parts for the staging purchased during the previous year, some lighting and stands and a costume rail. All these items are available for use by the community for events taking place in the town centre and for a small charge for events elsewhere.
With the ticket sales for the events providing further income the final account revealed a sum which was carried forward of £681.67 enhance by a generous grant from the town council which will be put towards a varied range of activities during the forthcoming year.
With regards to the normal events of the Arts House, it was decided to hold an Open Studio with an exhibition of art (painting, photography, pottery, jewellery etc.) This event which lasted one week included eight artists using various media and enhanced the funds, leaving a final balance of £479.12 - an increase from the £291.60 brought forward from the previous year.
