public benefit and. in particular. the sUpple￿n18ry guidance on chaiilies for the advancement of
religion. In part￿Ular. we try to enab￿ parishioners to INe out their faith as part of our parish communty

To facilitat8 this work, it is important that ¥￿ maintsin the fabn'c of the church of St Mary's and St Mary's
Church Hall. continue to carry out some of our work on-line. enabling us to rea¢h peoplewell ￿yond
the parish of Ross-on-we.
Achlevements and perfomian
The PCC has considered the need to extsnd the range of services during the week and overthe course
of the year that our cnmnunity find both t¢nefThl and swritualty hjlfilling. The Thursday morning
Eucharist plays an important role but our main efforts have been trywards eno)uraging ￿)re young
people to become part ofthe o)rnmunty at St Mary's.
All are wel¢ome to attend our wular sep4us ar￿ the PCC is gratefvl lo the Ministy Team for their
work in the sep4us that are Offe￿ and for the addrttonal opportunities that are offered by way of Lent
and Advent couises. The regukgr Bible Study groups now meet in hom&s. an online prayer group
meets regularty and the online daity rrh)ming prayer continues.
The Rector is an NHS Chaplain Tesponstble for Ross Community Hospiial and he vras on continuous
call in thts role as well as beiThJ responsib￿ for weekty ward rounds until his departure In April. Th
responsFbilty has been sha￿d wrth volunteers, including Dr Derek Glover.
The Rectorwas also Chaplan to the Royal Bntssh Leg%)n in Ross aThJ Dtstricts, a role now being camed
out by the Revd Colin Leggate.
Toast and Tcmjdle. and work wrth s￿￿S have conts'nued and while Messy Church (2-11) stopped in the
summer, Kids Club (A Sunday SchcK)l) has continued on a regular basis. The weekly youth choir
conts.nues to draw youngsters from Year 2 right through to Year 9. It nowfft)ins the aduf( choir for part of
rts reftearsal and sings a ThK)nth In the Parish Eucharist and at special servtces such as Carol
.SeNices. GROWIII-IA! is well eehh!iohAs. rneeling onca_ a month on a Sunday following the eucharist

Our ministy to retsrement and nursing homes has grcywn to cover 5 srtes, and a ministy to with
dements"a has been established. St Mary's Is a DeNEnba Ft1￿dty and a Bereavement Fnendty
Church and has a n￿nIttty 8ereaverrEnt (iroup known as "Just ts" whth also expenenced growth
in attendance during the year.
Afortnighdy Craft Group provjdes a craft-focused offelkywship.
The church electoral roll is ￿n￿￿ed every six Yea￿ and the last one was in 2019. There are currently
142 panshKJners on the roll. a large proporkn of whorn are r6sJderrt wrihin tr*e pansh. One name was
removed through death during the year.
The￿ is a rota of voiunleers to visrt all who are sKk or unable to get out for any other reason and to
keep them in touch wrth church life. Te￿phOne corstact has been maintained by members of Ihe Ministry
Team and volunteers with cAder and vulnerable parishioners. Seven membets of the congregat'on have
been licenced as Lay Pastt)ral v￿lIorS, Lay Worship Leaders or Lay Missioners.

Church bulldlng ImproveM￿ts
Further improvements were made to the sound syslern with athtt￿aI spthkeTS whKh has greatly
enhanced rt. The laroe screen and proiectr*, irtstalled in 2023 ￿ntinue to be well used for both church
services and other events.
A new, larger, oak platfom has been installed beiween the nave and the chancel, gwing greater
fiexibilty, particularty when several people need to be on the platform. The nave altar stsnds on il and
again. there more room for the offwnts al Eucharlst servtes.
Foltuwlng the replacement of all high-level LED luhting. 80me of the original lights have teen reused
to provKle effe¢live highlwJhtsng of SO￿ of the ar¢hite¢lural features of the building.
St Mary* Hall
The hall continues to be in regular use wrth paid bookings. It ts managed by the St Mary's chU￿h Hall
Committee on behalfotlhe PCG. Two tenants have contsnued to occupy much of the first Il¢)or, wrth one
room being retained for church use.
A Community Larder {Food Bank) and drop in cafè (known as 'Tea and Toasf) is operated from St
Mary's Hall in collaborat￿ wth Churths Together In Ross and DtstrKt
Deanory synod
Three membets sat on the Deanery SyncNI. The Oeanery Synod r*trrfKles tho PCC with an important
link betsveen the pansh and the wider structures of the Church.
Grant making poIIcy
The PCC have a polKy ofmthng donations of 5% ofthe Income from other unrestricted giving including
Gfft Aid receipts under a pattem of ￿ular grving or otherwise. The donat￿nS are made In support of
t(Jth UK and overseas chaTities under the recomrwTrdats"on of erther nEmbers of the PCC or the
congregation of the churth rather than in response to any awicatws made to the PCC.

voluntary donats"ons, and a further £18,362.69 was from income tsx recovery on Gift AKI. Due to the
recent enforced change of Grft secretary some claims for this year have been delayed. Our
membershio of the Parish Givinq Scheme u)nbnues to hdD with the collection of lax repayments and
remains a valuable aid to the manageffent of regular gmng. E]ethIn￿ giving via the card r8aders in
church continues to increase.

Net movernnt of unrestrlcted funds was a deficit of £1.741.51 and there an increase in desiqnated
fvnds of £5799.90 and of restrthd funds of £47919.33. Thk8 included £40,998.81 for the Life Link
Chaplain prryect.

operates under the ParC￿hla1 Church Courril Powers Measure. The PCC is a Reaistered Charity.

Mary's the r￿mbershIp of the PCC consists of the Incumbent (our Rector), LKensed Clergy. including
