Church Hall. We continue to carry out some of ourv￿rk on4ine, enabling us to reach people well beyond
the parish of RoswTrWe.
Achlevements and perforniance
The PCC has conSide￿d the need to extend the range OfserV￿ dunng the week and over the o)urse
ol the year that our communrty fiThJ tC*th beneffio'al and S￿ritUal￿ thjlfilling. The Thursday morning
Eucharist plays an wnportanl role but our main efforts have been t￿ardS ￿cOuragn9 more young
people to become part of the communrty at St Mary's.
All are welcome to attend our regular ser¥￿e5 aThJ the PCC i8 grateful to the Clergy Team for their work
in the services that are offered and for the addilional opportunit￿$ that are offered by way of Lent and
Advent courses. The trwo regular Bible Study groups now meet in homes, an online prayer group meets
regularfy and the online daity morrung wayer contlnues.
The Reclor is an NHS ChapLain responsible for Ross Communty HO3￿￿1 and he is on continuous call
in thi5 role as well a5 being responsible for weekly vrard rounds. This resF¥)n*bility has been shared
th volunteers, namety 1￿Mer cuiate Rev rrfrany Jackson. and more recenly Dr Derek Glover.
The Rector is also Chapkin to the ROY￿ British Legi￿ in Ross and Di$tri¢ts.
Toast and Toddle. LEAF and Messy Church have continued to meel in person and work V*ilh schooL8
has now fully recovered from the restn'ction of k)ckd(Y•m. Tl)e weekty youth cholr continues to thrive
attracting singers from Year 2 right through to Year 9. It often tskes part in the monthty Messy Churth
worship and during the year increased its wNofv8ment in the Pwish Eutharist from Or￿ to ￿lce

advanced to meet once a month on a Sunday fo11th￿￿9 the ￿fI$L The emphasig 15 on discovering
faith for those interested rather than a general youth group.
Our ministy lo retirement and nursing homes has grown to cover 5 srtes, and a ministy to people wth
dementia has been established. St Mary's is both a Dementia Friendly and a Bereavement Friendly
Church and has a monlhty Bereavement Group as "Just B. wthich has a150 experienced grThvth
in attendance during the year.
Afortnightly Craft Group prowdes a craft-focused time of feN¢yhship.
The church electoral roll is every six years and the lasl one was in 2019. There are currently
132 panshioners on the roll. a large prop￿.￿ ofwI￿n are rfrshlent7Afjl￿n the parish. Four names wore
removed through death during the year.
There a rots of volunteers to vtsit all 8id( or Unab￿ to get out fty any other reason and to
keep them in touch with church Ilfe. Telephone eonlacl has been maintained by members ofthe Ministy
Team and volunteer8 older and vulnerable parishioners. Seven membern ofthe congwation have
been licenced 88 Lay Pastoral Visrtorn. Lay Wry8hip Leaders or Lay Missioners.

the PCC has agreed lo improve the faalty further. A large screen and iYoJeth have been installed.
The screen is hidden behind the thancel arch and drops down for u8e vthile the p￿rtu1 projector has
been mounted on the back wall of the thurch adj'acent to the choir vesty. The8e have been used for
ilthtraled talks as as dunng services. Parti￿j￿ in Ihe 8emons.
The LED lightsng in8tslled some years ago ha8 bew tsiling at an alam)IrwJ r*e and d￿s1On wo8
taken lo replace all the high level unrts in one go, rather than hirin9 exp¢nsive access gear a eLJuple of
limes each year to replace the latest failed units. ￿ overall lighting in the church 18 now much mo
effecbve and finger8 wé crossed thal ￿ won't be d￿'n9 this again in another ten year8.
New heatiThJ contrd8 have enabled the lo be heated more eftkiènttry.
St Mary's H*ll
The hall continues to be in rwlar use wth paid bookings. It is managed by the St Mary's Church Hall
Commrtlee on behawofthe PCC. Two tenants have conkn"Th*d to ¢xcupy mLth of the firstfloor, with one
room beiro retained for church use.

Four member8 Sat on the Deanery Synod up to May 2023 after Iknfiich Ihree continued. The Deanery

Church.

Gfft Aid receipt$ under a pattern of regular giving or otherwise. The donation$ are made in support of

congregation of the chU￿h rathef than in response to any aw)IKatK)ns made to the PCC.

Total receipts on unre$trithd fund$ were £182,476 of which £75,586 was unrestricted planned voluntary
donations, and a fvrther £24991 was from income tax recovery on Gift Aid. Our membership of the
P8nsh Giwng Scheme continues to help wrth the collecb.on of tax repayments and ￿MaInS a valuable
aid to the management of regular gNing. ElectronK giving via the card readers in church contrnues lo
increase.

Followng approv81 of The PCC, a number of smaller legacies were sold, the funds transferred lo

the Pcor Fund, wh￿h hat1 previousty operated as a separate cbaiity, was transferred to the PCC

Our regular fijndraising activthes have continued to be suetessfrJl, inclLKling the Christmas Trèè
Festival, vthich Taised £5.472 and generated a great deal of go)￿111 in the community. The 100 Club
remains a successful source of income.

The Parochial Church Council is a corporate boty estabfished by the Church of England. The PCC
operates under the Parochial Church Council Pov*Ers Measure. The PCC is a Registered Chanty.
The method of appointment of PCC members is set out in the Church Representab"on Rule5. At St
Mary's the membership of the PCC consists of the I￿uMbent lour Rector), Licensed Clergy. including
House for Duty Priests when in post. ChLtrchwardens, the Reader5 and member5 elected by those
members of the congiegation are on the Electoral Rdl of the chijrch. All those who attend our
serviceslmembers of the congreg*ion ￿ enwuraged to register on the Electoral Roll and stsnd for
election to the PCC.
The PCC members are responsible makin9 decisions on all matters of general concem and
importance to the parish, induding deciding on how the lunds of the PCC are to be spent. The full PCC
met seven kn"me$ during the year {IncbJding one eXtraxdIn￿ meets"ng) 8 very good average level
of attendance.
