The financial statements comply with current statLrtory requirements, and the Statement
Recommended Practice- Accounilng and Reporting by Charities (FRS 102).
The Namibia Project work8 to reverse the adverse impact that poverty has on children's lives and
fLrture. Through sponsorship, access to edueation and by meeting the basic welfare needs the
N8mibio Project improves the liv￿ and opportunities of orphans and vulnerable children in Namibia.

Trustees are appointed or reappointed annualty at the Annual General Meeting held in March. The

aim of the position is for students who have returned from their Summer expedttlon to Namibia to give

There is • childprotection policyin place.
Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure and Barrtng Servtce (DBS) checks are carried out before the
commencement of trusteeship. These checks are carried out again every three years in line with
statulory requiremènts. Safety Net a National Registered Umbrella Body for the Disclosure and
Barring Service (DBS) will provide DBS checks for the tnjstees in Febnjary 2023. (DBS etr￿$ deferred
during the academic year due to CovK4 19 as all meeting8 take plèee by Zoom)

The Namibia Project started at ACS Cobham Intemational School In 1999 to Pfovidè 8 student
leaming experience for 20 sludents arKI two teachers. Fundralsing events are held throughout ihe
year, and during the summer ihe *ud￿t ieam wenl on eXPedrti￿ to Namibia, for four weeks to
vlslt and work on the PToJects at our partrnr schools in Namibia.
In September 2015 the Namibia Prqect CIO was registered with ihe Charity Commission. The Ifustees
gre elected from a diverse gr<>up of people have a real understsnding of the needs lo be met as
they had efther worked at ACS or g(￿ to Namibla as part of tlt Prqect. The Chairman has financial
business and m8nagemenl experience and has nol worked al ACS or gone to Namlbla.

protect the assets (repLrtation) and people.
The Risk Register Framework N)cludes safegua￿$ to prevent frnud and to reduce the risk of misuse of

Fundratslng Poll¢y
Section 162a of the Charities Acl 2011 requlres charfiies to make a Statement regarding fundralslng
activilies. Although we do not undertake to fundraise fr(Kn the general publiG the legislation defines
fundralslng as.soliC￿Ing ￿ otherwise procuring mory or other propety for charitable purposes.
Such amounts rec*vable is presented in our aeccAtnts as'voluntary income. and include legacies and
grants. Conceming the above, we confirm that all solictlations are managed inlemalty, without the
involvement of commercial parti¢ipator$ or professional fundraisers oi third parties.
All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneratlon or other benefits except for travel
expenses to further the purposes of the CIO charity.

The objects of ihe CIO ("Obje¢tsl for the public benefft are lo relieve $i¢kness and financial hardship
and to promote and preserrfe goods or serlices of ary in Nwnibia as the trustees may from time
to tlme thlnk fit.
The Namlbia Piojerf Charrty works in parthershlp wlth IIKhthalhoas Primary School, near Berseba,
Kharas Reglon. In the South of Namibia and Dr Alpo Mauno Mbamba Junior Secondary School. at
RundLS, in the North of Namibia.
In October 2020 the Namibia Projert and ACS Internatlonal School Cobham were linked. At ihe heart
of this partnership our strategy was to focus ￿ sludents and their leaming outcomes. The goal was
to work In Partnefship on fund￿al$lng Campaigns to make a tangible drfference to the lives of orphan$
and vulnerable chIld￿n in Namibia.
The annual four-week'service learnin￿ studenl expedltlon to Namibia was postponed n 2020, 2021
and In 2022. The lockdowns at ACS Inlernational School Cobham affected the charity's abllity lo
fundralse on the campus. Fortursately ihe charity had ringfenced enough funds to continue the goal of
feedlng the oTph8ns and vulnerable chlldren at IIKhuta!hoas Prlmary School gnd fundlng the Iwo
unlversity scholarship student8 ITh￿ Dr Alpo Mauno Mbamba JS School who were attendlng
unlversltle8 In Wlndhoek.

WHATWE DID:
We improved the Food Security at IIKhutalhoas Primary School by purchasing
protan-rich foods for the Orphans and Vulnerable Children. in the hostel.
In 2021- 2022 we also provided funds for a Senior Crtizen soup kitchern as a result of
the har(Iships brought on by the drought c￿lIti0￿s. The SOLJP kitchen was organised
and threetimes a week by volunteers.

We are developing a sustainable school garden ty providing shade cover, raised beds, improved
rrigation and by purchasing high yield droUght￿$￿ant seeds In 2021-2022 the Namibian school
appointed a teacher as garden supervisor and a link was developed with the ACS Cobham Early
Childh¢)od classes. In 2021-22 the work on joint projects to demonstrate dtfferent gardening

techniques in the Northem and Southem hernisphwe schools was curtalled due to the pandemic
restrictions.
