Report of the trustees
The Trustees of the charity present their annual report and financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31st March 2021. The Trustees have adopted the
provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practices (SORP) 'Accounting and reporting by charities' issued in March 2005 in preparing the report and financial statement of the charity.
STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT
Gabby’s Orphanage is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation formed on 17 September 2015 and has not commence operation.
The Charity is controlled by its governing document and is controlled by a board of trustees whose members are elected at the annual general meeting.
New trustees are appointed on the basis of the contribution that they will make to the governance of the organization and the skills that they will contribute. They are provided with the copies of the charity commissions' guidance to trustees and given an introduction to the activities of the charity by the existing board. Existing trustees are provided with training as and when required.
OBJECTIVES, ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The objects for which the company is established, as set out in its governing document are; The relief of need and the promotion of education and care for orphans and other children suffering hardship and distress as a result of local, national or international disaster or by reason of social, personal or economic circumstances in Nigeria or elsewhere in Africa as the trustees determine in particular by the following means:
a) providing or assisting in the provision of accommodation, care, education, training and other support to help children
b) raising awareness of the needs and rights of such children”
These objectives are charitable and operate for the public benefit are required in section 4 of the Charities Act 2006 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, Charities and Public Benefit.
FINANCIAL REVIEW
There are no financial transaction during the year.
TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES
The trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice:
Company law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity
and of the net income or expenditure of the charity for the year. In preparing these financial statements the trustees are required to:

Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;

Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements; and

Prepare the financial statements on the going-concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
Karoo Accountants have been appointed as the independent examiners for the coming year.
